aceofgenerations, 18 Mar 2016Oh is that what it means? I thought it was the other way around, because I watched a review of... moreNote 5 has DPI set to 560, S6 and S7 have it at 640.
It works on Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge as well, for those who got the Marshmallow update.
*Yay*
This is the best! One less reason to need root, as I've always HATED super high resolution screens that had high DPI setting, rendering the extra resolution useless.
Useful, but still looks ugly. They need more premium fonts and the whole interface needs to be redesigned in order to catch up on Windows's and iOS's user interface.
Same available on s6 MM update too, Good for all who want lower dpi settings
Boldy, 18 Mar 2016Works on S6 too. BTW, condensed is the lower DPI than normal. Condensed: 560 DPI, normal: ... moreOh is that what it means? I thought it was the other way around, because I watched a review of Note 5 vs Note 4 and the reviewer said that the 'Note 5 has a higher out of the box DPI setting, allowing more information to be squeezed into the same space'. Right...what I said should be the opposite, thanks for clearing that up.
AnonD-126854, 18 Mar 2016If you are right.....Then you can use the same method to switch to Normal mode. Then go back ... moreThanks. It's available only for mm6. I have lp5.1.1 rooted won't accept OTA, must unroot first. I use larger fonts for now.
Does this mean it'll boost the Performance and battery life of the device?
Hotkolbas, 18 Mar 2016isnt it like going into nova settings and changing the amount of colums and rows. and you als... moreNot exactly, changing the screen DPI changes the sizes of everything on the device, settings menu, installed apps, etc... not just the home screen. Everything become smaller and is able to fit more information into the screen. It's like changing the scaling in windows.
isnt it like going into nova settings and changing the amount of colums and rows.
and you also check the off grid layout too and you have so much more space....
The downside is that you need to use nova but that in itself is a bonus.
Boldy, 18 Mar 2016Unfortunately it breaks the split-screen mode as the circular handle becomes broken. I switche... more... another good tip! Thanks :)
Gau69, 18 Mar 2016Condensed looks way better than "normal"Unfortunately it breaks the split-screen mode as the circular handle becomes broken. I switched back to normal and changed font size to tiny. Works well.
Lol... Cyanogenmod dpi setting more amazing than this
aceofgenerations, 18 Mar 2016Really small but nice addition. I prefer high dpi so I wished Samsung had did this earlier.Works on S6 too.
BTW, condensed is the lower DPI than normal. Condensed: 560 DPI, normal: 640 DPI. The higher the DPI of the display, the more the UI becomes larger to compensate for it. A larger DPI on same resolution screen means bigger UI.
AnonD-263286, 18 Mar 2016I think "Condenced" is the default for Note 5. I wish i could change it to normal. If you are right.....Then you can use the same method to switch to Normal mode.
Then go back to your launcher.
You forget to mention, that you can go back to your favorite launcher after the changes are made.

Being hidden a 'few steps' away isn't a bad thing,.. (Though once engaged, an option to easily adjust might prove handy)
I had a call from a rural customer this morning who had, whilst changing the battery in their mouse, engaged Windows scaling. It had rendered the computer nearly useless, and they had survived for a day or so by using the magnifier in accessibility options(Ease of Access).
Most users/the average user might not want this... But knowing we can output the screen to outboard monitors, a native scaler in place becomes very handy.
Plus, being able to show a friend or colleague just how hi res our phone screens truly are would be a neat bonus. ("That's not a knife, THIS is a knife", Mick 'Crocodile' Dundee)
