OoO, 08 Apr 2016you are both a bit "off topic". you are right according to the VR definition but what does tha... more360 and VR are related! You are not going to drag your mouse over the 360 player to look whats around all the time are you? They have outed their 360 cam as companion to their VR headsets, not to shoot google street imagery. Look at Insidious VR 360 (no 3D) app to understand what I mean. Its pretty useless to watch it if you don't have a VR headset.
Get your facts right and spare some time to read/write something correct/relevant!

Way too high priced than I expected it to be. Should have been less than $200 to encourage people creating 360° content. Staying away for now.
AnonD-226698, 07 Apr 2016Again...not VR just 360 view. there is a difference here.. This dual camera will only take 360... moreTotally agree with you dude!
It is no true VR as long as 3D is not involved since 3D gives image/video a depth which makes it possible to experience real virtual reality. Without 3D its plain 2D irrespective of which VR headset you use.
Only simulated content (3D animations) can be seen on a VR headset which enables users experience real VR in 3D, but again its only a computer generated content so you still need a dual camera setup to record real life videos in 3D. 360 simply adds another dimension to 3D. Otherwise they both are totally different technologies.
People really need to educate themselves before commenting here! Don't simply believe what you read. First use/experience the technology!
Subzz, 07 Apr 2016It takes 360° videos and can be viewed by samsung vr headset..
My dear, probably u didn... moreAgain...not VR just 360 view. there is a difference here.. This dual camera will only take 360 2D images so no VR here.
Samsung has another model in the works that will trully be capable of full 3d 360. It's called "Project Beyond":
"Samsung revealed Project Beyond, a 360 degree 3D camera for filming virtual reality content" That setup is a true VR camera.

No camera can do "true" 3D anyway due to physical and technolo... moreWell you can do 3D but the perspective will be dictated by the recording device. Let's say you wish to broadcast a boxing match (There are some 360 videos of that now) but you wish to do it in 3D. you would use a binocular camera like the other more advanced one from samsung that has a bunch of lenses and this would allow you so see 360 in 3D from a fix point like from one of the corners of the boxing Ring. the cameras that have multiple lenses (to allow binocular image) are the true VR ones. (Or those multi go pro ring setups) If you can't do 360 in 3D you just have a fish eye cam with nifty software.

No camera can do "true" 3D anyway due to physical and technological limitations, so the only way to do genuine VR from a recoding would be using a live transmission that moved as the viewer moved, which would be a logistical nightmare for obvious reasons.
Nice job faking LG 360 Cam with almost double price... Well played, Samsung, well played.
AnonD-226698, 07 Apr 2016This Cameras are not true VR, their just 360 video/still picture cams with no real time 3D cap... morewho said anything about 3D? just read the device's name and figure it. and VR is not just for 3D content, it is for 360° pictures also. you won't understand until u try it. it is quite cool, like you are actually there - no comparison to classic pictures in real life
This Cameras are not true VR, their just 360 video/still picture cams with no real time 3D capability. ( 180 degre cameras on each opposing side). It may be able to take 3D stills by using the method Google uses for it's Cardboard camera (3d from a single lense) but it will never be able to shoot 3D video. So no, No VR...not worth it.
Two expensive for a camera! All what it has is two dual cameras + some software which stitches the images together. Stay away!
