You're so funny when you talk about stuff you don't know. Just because Microsoft delivered first their half baked idea doesn't mean that they were first to think of it. Microsoft is a very conservative company, it never does anything unless there is a hint that someone else will do it first.
Continuum is half baked because Microsoft did not wait to establish a strong mobile market. You can't have continuum if you don't have both a strong mobile (ios) AND a desktop (os X) platform.
Of course all these are moot since Cook's Apple abandoned the merge. Now Microsoft plays alone with their half baked idea.

Once Mac migrated from PowerPC to Intel, it was thought that it is a temporary move. Jobs ' idea was to rewrite the whole OS to run on their own CPU/GPU (their own hardware).
iphones were the vector on which they would Develop their own soc at first. Once it was deemed mature enough the two would merge.
Of course Cook's Apple completely abandoned such an ambitious plan, because that's what Cook's apple do. Since the iPad Apple have yet to introduce a new successful product, that tells you everything you need to know about New Apple

and yet you suggested Apple to follow exactly the same feature.
AFAIK, iOS and OSX are completely different OS and developer needs to develop app for each OS from ground up in order to make it work on phone & laptop
whereas in Microsoft Windows 10, you only need to code once and then just add UI adjustment for larger screen and your good to go, the app can be installed anywhere from phone, laptop, tablet running Windows10.

They are fundamentally different at the end of the day.
All I know for now is that Macaroni and tacOS makes MacOS and that OSX is the porn version.
Dasman, 18 Apr 2016Merge into what tho? Using iOS and OS X on a computer and phone?Into an ARM based OS. Remember Apple is now making their own CPU/GPU. Sure it's not enough to power a full-fledged macbook pro, but more than enough for low end Macbooks and Macbook Air. It would had cut unbelievable costs and let them completely control the future of both their software and hardware.
Think of an iPad Pro that when connected to a keyboard it is capable of running Mac OS software, but when in touch mode it can be used like a regular tablet (an ipad). A bit of how Microsoft tried but failed...

They denied the iPhone for years, if you were born back then you would know. That's Old Apple's tactic. The difference is that old Apple would deliver regardless.
Your post is ignorant, because unlike me, you don't know any ex employee from Apple (I do). It was a "known secret" that the two lines of software would become own by "mid decade".
They completely failed, that was Steve Jobs No1 dream, that's also why he took out the moniker "computers" from the company's name. He thought that all technology would integrate with one another and that the "comouter" moniker was divisive.
It was Jobs idea to get into cars also. But above all it was his idea that all Apple's idea would converge into a point.
That's why I call new Apple as IBM. It's exactly the kind of thing that Old Apple was built to defeat. Bereft of ideas, battling innovation instead of welcoming, a burden to this world.

One more fail from Cook and Co.
Jobs dying wish was to merge the two separate lines of software. That's why Mac OS was renamed to OS X. By the time iOS would reach the X version the two were meant to merge.
Of course the new Apple had a different opinion. The new Apple is like IBM or worse, monolithic , bereft of ideas and not unlike IBM speeding towards irrelevance in many sectors.
Up until Jobs died Apple would produce a new cash cow product every two years. Now Apple is "Iphones and more iphones". Sure they make more money than before, but by putting all their eggs into one basket they would certainly fail in the not so distant future.
Jobs by now must be powering a nuclear plant due to his spinning. They completely destroyed his legacy in 5 short years. It's all downhill from now on folks. Jobs *was* Apple.

I bet it's a typo. 90% of people think it's Mac OS anyway (that's what it technically is).
It's still Mac OS and has been Mac OS for decades. X is just roman 10.
