Anonymous, 21 Apr 2016You haven't heard about that, seriously? I even saw one unit on a phone store back in the day ... moreYeah I heard about that and it happened to other phones as well like iPhone 4 and some HTC and Samsung models before.... BUT THAT IS NOT ''SELF CRACKED'' glass nor it's fail in engineering. It happens when the phone is left in extreme condition where it can absorb a lot of heat like under windscreen in a car or near the window in a store ...because glass of the phone absorbs sun rays that happened to be magnified trough other glass like store window or car windscreen and so much heat when is trapped in such small housing that is basically closed shell of glass and metal then heat must find it's way to escape. Black Xperias and iPhones absorbed a lot more sun rays so this was most evident with these models ... anyways most OEM's adopted different way of manufacturing phones today so it rarely happens but anyway never leave your phone in the car or in the place where it can absorb heat .

AnonD-226698, 21 Apr 2016Agreed...I've had sony phones for 10 years and I've never had one magically "Self Crack" on me... moreThere's even a FB-group for 'Xperia Z Cracked Screens' and also Google verified that people have had this happened on their phones. Just search for "sony self-breaking glass" and you'll get proof. And 'Sony Z2 gap issue' gives you some interesting results as well. Those are the things that kept me from getting a Z2 myself! I wanted the phone when it was released, but quickly lost my interest towards Sony-phones after I read about those things. Yes, probably just bad units - but still.
AnonD-404798, 21 Apr 2016 ''self-breaking glass'' is biggest boolsh#t i ever heard Mr. Troll . Agreed...I've had sony phones for 10 years and I've never had one magically "Self Crack" on me...this is mainly people trying to get stuff after they drop their phones.

I even saw one unit on a phone store back in the day when Z2 was released and it had those. Sad. This could've happened to any other model from different maker as well - Sony is most likely not the only one.

Or the gaps near the screen on Z2 and I believe it had those near the back camera as well? Those are the main things that keep me from even thinking about buying Sony's instead of Nexus-devices.

SKorap, 21 Apr 2016Do not rush into buying phones. I bought the Z3 Compact like 6 months ago and I am heavy user.... morejust replace the flaps, it's cheap around 10$ whole set and all you need to replace them is one needle or something similar. It's easy and done in one minute. by the way you can use magnetic port for charging to prevent opening that micro-usb port everyday....on newer models like Z3+ or Z5 flaps are eliminated.
Impressive Sony, keep being the leaders in what you do Best.

I bought the Z3 Compact like 6 months ago and I am heavy user.... moreSony have one of the most superior build quality of all the oems they were the ones who started making premium phones with glass and metal z3 is quite an old old and at that time they needed flaps for water proofing btw now there is no need for that and the new phones from Sony are waterproof even without flaps

I bought the Z3 Compact like 6 months ago and I am heavy user. So the thing is the phone itself is amazing in performance but not in build quality or making calls. The flap which covers the micro-usb has started to lose the glue. Note that everything is not about updates if it is just working fine then you don't need one.
is it means after nexus and moto x, z3 will the first to get N? lol, to good to be true
Smart move. First provided marshmallow and now this to aging z3. Where are you Samsung? Even note 4 haven't got marshmallow globally. My next smart phone should be from Sony.
