what is wrong with Lenovo?
I mean who is gonna buy a phone that looks that ugly,,! YUCK!
Their official death was when Lenovo purchased them
AnonD-310528, 10 May 2016I would be severely disappointed to see the Play 2016 with a SD 625 since all rumours point to... moreRumours are moto g4 with Snapdragon 430 or 617,not 650/652..
Well... Looks like the official DEATH of Motorola brand... /:
Sooo ugly... Horrible front button, no stereo speakers, ugly flat back design.. And now modular design???! WTF Motorola !? So sorry for Motorola, Lenovo just ruined so perfect phone.. They should call it Moto R.I.P.
I would be severely disappointed to see the Play 2016 with a SD 625 since all rumours point to the Moto G4 + having a SD 650/652, which are about the same performance as SD 808/810 and likely be less than that pure 2016.
That phone is coming in 4th quarter, probably October.
_____
There will be a "premium" Moto phone in 4th quarter, just like the last two years. Don't be a sucker and buy one of these. We're getting somewhere, but we haven't finished the journey yet.
_________
In 2014, all we had worth considering from Motorola was the Moto X "flagship" (which was basically a copy of the 2013 LG G2 -- 5.2", 10080p, 2GB RAM). I don't even consider Moto G or Moto E.
Then in 4th quarter they released the premium "Quark" -- Droid Turbo/Moto Maxx/Moto Turbo (depending on where you bought it). It was what the Moto X that year should have been!
The Quark was FANTASTIC -- 5.2" version of the 2014 Moto Nexus 6, but with choice of Kevlar or Ballistic Nylon + Kevlar back. I own three of the Moto Maxx XT1225, running them on AT&T. LTE bands 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 17.
_______
In 2015, what was the the "Moto X" became the "Moto X Style" in other countries. In the U.S. it was the Moto X Pure. It's ostensibly Motorola's "flagship" phone. 1440p, Snapdragon 8xx series.
The also released a mid-tier (6xx series) "Moto X" as the Droid Maxx 2/Moto X Play. Strangely had a bigger battery than the flagship, but lesser specs (slower CPU, less RAM, lower resolution, 1080p) than the "flagship".
Then, in 4th quarter the 2015 "Kinzie" was the 2014 Quark successor: Droid Turbo 2/Moto X Force. It was the "premium" phone. Snapdragon 8xx series, more RAM, bigger battery, with more features.
Confusing keeping up with all those names!
(Again, lower on the totem pole was the Moto G and Moto E series -- not even worth considering.)
For the 2015 "Moto X" an analogy would be the old automobile DX/LX/EX monikers. Honda would release Accord base model DX, then LX with a few more features and finally EX with the kitchen sink (more powerful engine, sunroof, etc).
Yes strange in the Moto world, the "DX" model has a bigger battery than the "LX" model...
Nevertheless, in 2016 Motorola is following this scheme again. Releasing two lower models for suckers. The REAL phone you want is coming in 4th quarter.
So, one of these in this article is the "flagship" 2016 Moto X (the 1440p model) and one is the 2016 version of the mid-tier Moto X Play/Droid Maxx 2 (the 1080p model with the bigger battery, yet Snapdragon 625, puny RAM). Renders of it with "Droid" logo have even leaked.
But neither of these phones is the 2016 version of the 2014 "Quark" (Droid Turbo/Moto Maxx/Moto Turob) or 2015 "Kinzie" (Droid Turbo 3/Moto X Force) -- the top of the line phone with EVERYTHING. That will come closer to the end of the year.
That's why the "Vector Thin" has 1440p but puny 2550 mAh battery. And why the "Vortex" has only 1080p, Snapdragon 625 and but yet big 3550 mAh battery. The mid-tier Vortex also has laser auto-focus and rear camera OIS, while the supposedly more premium (higher resolution) "Vector Thin" does not. Why would you put those features on a Snapdragon 625 phone and not on your flagship phone? Why would you not put a bigger battery on a 1440p phone?
BECAUSE, the Vector Thin is for suckers. The REAL premium phone -- the "EX" model is coming in 4th quarter. It will have all the features of the "Vortex", with a bigger battery, rear camera OIS, laser autofocus, more RAM (6GB) and Snapdragon 823.
THAT yet unseen phone will be the Droid Turbo 3/Moto X Force (or whatever they call this year's international equivalent). Wait for it!

I was talking about Moto E, G, X Play devices which fall under value for money category. They are all damn good for the price, so my comment is still valid. In this specific article, I was talking about successor to Moto X Play successor with SD 625.

I'm not happy with a smaller battery either, but who knows, maybe it lasts more than you think. Hell, even the last year flagships had same battery capacity
Battery life on the SD820 flagship will be abysmal, just when Apple will really increase the battery life on the iPhone 7, and Samsung already offers 2-day battery life on the S7 Edge.
They will probably concentrate on the Chinese market, since everyone else (Samsung, HTC, Xiaomi, even LG) realized that most people need smaller screens like 5-5.2".
Any information on "moto x force 2".. ? I m seriously waiting/looking for" moto x force 2"
Both only 5.5"?
Motorola should not delay the launch even . They should these phones as soon as possible !
Screw this phone, just give us the new updated version of Droid Turbo 2 with Snapdragon 820, 4GB RAM, improved camera and same nice ballistic nylon body and shatterproof screen.
We wan't a rugged and powerful phone not some sleek and svelte show off device.
man.... looks its large bottom bezel
Looks nice, but screen should be like 5.2 inch. The sales depend on the price.
2600? I won't even consider anything less than 3000mah.
One of the phadtoos fone of 2016, Are we human's robots with square fingertips ? Why square shaped fingerprint scanner ? Circle is not patent of any living being on earth. Really ugly and bad looking bottom.
Too small. Should be at least 5.7".
lenovo messed up moto x line up so badly ...
