PC gives you that ability and that's significant. With phones, no matter how much you spend (And no matter how little you care about that), you still can't get what you want.

So Ara will probably be even less modular than G%. completely useless.

that will be like adding a usb to a laptop and voila MOAR power :D
the idea of modular phones is good and probably should have come faster considering the number of people upgrading their PCs, their laptops and whatnot..
and its probably for the best that the processor is not swappable...though a swappable screen would have been awesome(not the main screen..something like the edge or lg v10 secondary screen........)
So, you'll be stuck with 5.3" screen, specific SoC and RAM. The only thing you'll be able to swap are camera, battery and internal memory. That's really shitty modularity, if you ask me.
I don't know whether there are any safety measures before swapping the chips from the module. Because if there is no security created for it, robberies for these chips will be the nee era for robbers. Electro-magnetic lock which opens up with a pattern lock or a fingerprint scanner might be the solution. Thanks.
now that call future ......ony increase in ram is not future
Jarret, 21 May 2016This project maybe failed, soon...I agree it will be fail. Because it has too much parts can change. It is not a good idea for cellphone. Because u will not spread more money for parts. But those are not main parts. Just like screen, cpu and battery can change will be better. Camera can change is good. Anyway it is a good try and look something new in cellphone market.

Good concept, like pc, just change any module to upgrade or when it spoil.
Oh C'mon... People are really hard to please eversince. Why dont we just appreciate how technology pushes forward. That's why competition exist for us consumers to have plenty options based on our own preferences. Let us remember that we cant have em all. Ayt... Peace Y'all

Motorola is always contribute new innovation to mobile phone industry, thanks and keep innovate Motorola engineers
No it won't b very successful , people using iPhones r nt evn interested in basic customisations in software, a fraction of people using android r somewhat intersted n tweaking the software rest of den dnt bother, people using feature phones dnt bother at all.. On top of dat so many companies so many choices of cameras screen sizes etc etc are alrdy ther n it changes every month or so .. Why wud nyone bother abt this kind of phone "in parts" . In dis always on the go life these days who has time for this... Except me 😳 who is writing this long lecture on tiny iPhone 5s screen :-) Lol , gotta go enuf wastage ha ha ha
RC255, 20 May 2016I'd completely forgotten about the nexusQ!
PuzzlePhone are expecting to start consumer shipme... moreThe mobile industry has moving too fast for this to be success at this point. Budget phone are 49$ to 199$, mid-range are 210$ to 300$ and the hi-end could begin at 329$ to over 700$(and they're all smartphone that we're talking about). Mobile chips aren't slow either, also include the other aspects as well. So at the end, i kind of doubt that this is going to be any good by the time that it actual arrive.
And also, what about limitations if not restriction? Screen, chipset, RAM, etc.
More like Project Nada. This project now offers NOTHING of value to the core user base.
