dexterouz, 26 May 2016Yes, Windows phones are so much better than Android. I don't know where to start from.I use this technology in my school around year 2000 (somewhere around 1999-2002) called PTT (and all cellphone still using dot-matrix lcd) since the policy of my school prohibits to bring and/or use of cellphone at school but all the students ignore it, so my school put some kind of signal jammer, so me and my friends use PTT since PTT is already (to some models) as a part of feature/tech included on cellphones at that time
I see a lawsuit coming from Motorola (now Leveno unless that part of the business is independent). Just the words Walkie Talkie is old news. Well, I'm off to work on my solar generator and dehumidifier/water producer. Enjoy your lawsuit.

Anonymous, 26 May 2016Did Apple actually invent something? Like ever?I don't think they invented something. They are just packaging and marketing company. They use technologies from others(sometimes don't even pay for patent/they use it illegally), package it and do heavy brainwashing. I think Samsung is functioning in almost similar way.
Did Apple actually invent something? Like ever?
I have used the same technology 8 years back on my nokia symbian smartphone? Is this supposed to be new?
Not much surprise their products hardly any better than walkie-talkie so they can be as well used as such. I don't understand how can they get away with trying to patent something what is already invented and likely already patented.
...So you piggyback voice on a Wifi connection...So basically the same concept in Android Wear shared wifi connection with phone and wearable. Whatsapp does the same with Whatsapp web. all of this can be run on a phone so it will probably end up as an app on the iPhone and some third party manufacturer making the headset...
Great Idea. Tried to do this with a few apps on android in the past so a cycling group could stay in communication/chat but the apps were a bit unreliable. Angers me that Apple again do it properly where android apps do it in a poor way. Dislike apple but credit where credit is due they do do things properly.
And then what? Wait for them to say they "invented" the walkie-talkie...iDiots...
If it was integrated into the phone and all you needed was a headset that would still barely be used by anybody. If it needs a dedicated device then its DOA.
Walkie-talki is still used because:
- it have really amazing range(I have relly cheap walkie-talkie that have range of good 4km, and others have 2x)
- Its simple to use and doesnt require any additional component or devices
-its actually really cheap, especially when you take in to the account that you need to get few devices like that for, eg. production set or factory
-for most of time w-k is device that can withstand any weather and beating you give it.
-most of devices can work for 10-20hours and use cheap and easy to get batteries.
-it doesnt depend on any other technology so in case of really bad situation you not gonna cry "I dont have internet signal"
-its actually secure because you need to be in range to get signal.
and now lest look at this patent and see if it have those advantages? Because people use walkie-talkies because of them. Not because its trendy or have fancy logo on in
motorola tried to make this happen like 10-15 years back with push to talk, and didn't catch on.
iWalkieTalk is more appropiate...
Combine it with efficient noise reduction, and it could be a really practical thing in say a production environment, for trouble free person to person communication. Think a warehouse or factory.
