Better photo of Nokia 5250 found, details still scarce - read the full textWe caught a brief glimpse of the Nokia 5250 back in July and now it's back. New details are scarce but at least we're getting a better look at the phone. The design is freshened up, but the screen seems to be smaller than the one on the 5230. The Nokia 5250 is a Symbian S60 device and that's no...

> In reply to [deleted post]Wait, just found the link. Symbian^2 is Symbian 10 and Symbian^3 is Symbian 11. It shows that these are new OSes and not the same as Symbian 9.4. The reason for the S60 version being the same (with S^2 being 5.1 and S^3 being 5.2) is because it uses the same UI. S^3 is connected to the old Symbian OS but is also part of the new Symbian Platform and the basis of S^4 which is a completely new OS with no links to the older S60 bullsh*t.
Its just how Symbian 7 and 8 are different but in S60, they are all S60v2

Symbian^4 will have new graphical subsystem, but OS will remain the same. Symbian^3 is just a small update of Symbian^1.

Same Sluggish and cheap design....once again NOKIA has proved that they can't even make a good looking and different smartphone.

During the initial presentation, SJ had termed the antenna design as a "brilliant piece of engineering" and "something that had never been achieved before" (or something of the sort). How those words must be stinging him right now.

> In reply to regs @ 2010-08-11 08:18 from 3NBC - click to readSymbian^3 is not Symbian 9.4 slightly updated. It is almost a brand new operating system built from the base up. It still has support for S60 apps and an S60-esque UI which is the only think linking it to Symbian 9 and in Symbian^4, there won't be anything connecting the it the old versions with support for S60 apps dropped and a brand new revamped UI, though personally, I don't mind the current one and hope the claimed improvements for Symbian^3 are what they claim, and my guess is I'm probably the only person in the world who likes the UI of Symbian phones, maybe cause its a link to my childhood memories, I don't know why.

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2010-08-11 07:56 from 2GMV - click to readNo. Symbian^3 is slightly updated Symbian 9.4. It is still Symbian 9.4. Most of updates were done in UI. Symbian^4 will possibly have new UI written on Qt and possibly will drop support for programs written for S60.
But, Symbian still popular because of old programs made for S60. Dropping support for all that base of software will kill Nokia completely. I see no reasons for developers to waste their time to port their old software from S60. By that time most of them will switch to Android. And some of them does not have old sources anymore.

I should have specified what I was referring to.
The UI is similar but OS isn't.

i suppose it's still have 128mb of ram which makes it pretty much useless device. 256mb chip have same size, same power consumption and nearly same cost - just few bucks more.

This phone is much better than the flawed IPhone 4, atleast you can make amazing calls without the calls dropping, no matter which ever way you hold it.

Iphone 4 is a Joke. Dump it and get the Nokia N8. If you are considering Android, then go in for HTC.
