They need to step up in the cpu/gpu part...
Anonymous, 10 Jun 2016They are so irrelevant to the smartphone industry. They should just stay in china just like al... moreHTC is from Taiwan.
How is Huawei irrelevant at being #3 behind Samsung and Apple? Google even asked them to make a Nexus device last year and may do it again this year. They still have more marketshare than Xiaomi, LG, Sony, Lenovo/Motorola, HTC, ZTE, Nokia, Gionee/BLU, Oppo, ASUS, Acer, BlackBerry and so on except the top two.
The way Huawei can do it. For me, their price must lower then SAMSUNG. Better spec then other and like I say. It Cheap
With their kirin crop of current flagships it is not possible. either kirin chipsets need massive improvements like custom core design etc. for better single core performance better gpu OR they should start using Qualcomm way more in high end models. i mean still no 4k video, no QHD display, and that flagship 955 kirin gpu mali t880 mp4 barely handles 1080p , no hopes for it on QHD.
Anonymous, 10 Jun 2016If the move from the mate 7 to the mate 8 is of any indication that Huawei doesn't play around... moreYou are kidding .
Even meizu use 8890 which has 3 times gpu power .
Huawei use shitty kirin soc with shitty gpu .
Less candy & iOS-like, more simplicity and pro in EMUI, maybe then.

If the move from the mate 7 to the mate 8 is of any indication that Huawei doesn't play around, the future is looking bright.
They're the ONLY top dog that progressively turn out flagship phones without skimping on the hardware.
2021 is still at far away. Market dynamics may change a lot. Smartphone market never turned the way it was predicted anything remotely five years earlier.
One company which has a lot of potential is Xiaomi if they can overcome their demand supply problems. Also they are number one on their home turf. But they will need to expand worldwide.
RC255, 10 Jun 2016They're trying to take on the 2 biggest names in the business. Good on them. I'm not really su... moreyup, you're right.. and Huawei must not forget Lenovo, I think Lenovo might be a formidable competitor to Huawei in the near future
To do this...
1st thing needed is the service center in each an every city ! At least 1 in a city !
& 2nd thing is the UI... need a very compact & simole UI to understand all over the people not only the tech geeks !
Analysts' predictions and projections aside, we do not know what would really happen in between 2016 and 2021. Any surprising or unexpecting turn of events could happen in between. What I strongly believe is that these smartphone companies sure do like to surprise their target consumers whether their surprises turn out to be for their companies' or consumers' best or for their companies' or consumers' worst
AnonD-54819, 10 Jun 2016Top dog with mali 860MP2 and 880MP4By 2021 probably will be something like Mali T1420 or Mali T1640.
AnonD-120795, 10 Jun 2016I like your opinion, no fanboyism involved, just your honest and impartial thought.Thanks. I'm actually a huge Huawei fan so I do hope they can pull it off but we have to be realistic here.
No matter what happens, whether they succeed and pass one or even both of the top 2 or they stay where they are, it's still a huge achievement when you consider they're beating LG, HTC, Sony, Microsoft, Nokia, ZTE and others.

they should think again,,, nokia is coming back
They're trying to take on the 2 biggest names in the business. Good on them. I'm not really surprised since they have been growing (in sales, reputation and general quality) rapidly over the past couple of years. A lot of people either know Huawei or their Honor sub brand name. They have been 3rd in the smartphone race for a while and they are still a long way behind but I do believe they are the company to close the gap more than before. I don't believe they'll be able to take the lead, even by 2021 but they can definitely close up. In my opinion.
Chinese design + Chinese manufacturing = big flop
EU/US design + Chinese manufacturing = good stuff
Huawei hardware is pretty weak (compared to similar flagships) and its price is overwhelming!
