Taking pics indoor or when it's dark with no flash will only make a bad picture. The camera will boost the ISO to compensate and you get a pretty grainy picture to look at. Even real DSLRs have issues with low lighting, not to mention some second grade mobile camera.

As for me I am satisfied with it's camera and video recording. The quality is still the same even if it's uploaded to facebook and youtube. That's what matters most. It means it's got good sensor. Some mobile phones pics and videos are only good when played on that same device. But HD playback still varied depending on speed of CPU and video card of your computer.

Video recording has outdoor visibility setting also and you can set exposure meter to + 1.5 . Or set the white balance to fluorescent or daylight mode. HD recording capable (720P) , 1280 X 720 progressive scanning. Unless you want to record in complete darkness of course it won't work. Whats lacking is the digital zooming which is more important than the flash.

no flash = no buy.
you can fix low light camera quality, but you can't fix the video quality in the dark!

I have the original galaxy s since June. It has no flash and it doesn't need a flash. Flash used by mobile phones is only effective until 2 meters.

It's camera is capable of night shot mode and with outdoor visibility setting which are just perfect for low light shots. Flash will just drain your battery charge quickly.
