14MP Altek Leo to hit it off in Europe in an Android outfit

This phone went unnoticed...A real pity..
Last i saw the only place you could get it in Europe is the french Ebay for around 200 - 250 euros, witch given its capabilities is a bargain ( A used Galaxy S costs that much in my country...). The only other place was Great Britain's Ebay but the price is like 4 times bigger... Sure it doesn't have 235235 core processors or a graphics card to rival a PC one..but only idiots buy phones for that..wasn't the idea all in one? Perfect camera with all other options there?
Perfect phone in my opinion.

I wonder why Canon, Nikon, Olympus, or Pentax can't come up with something like this.

Very, very interesting sounding android camera smartphone.
With Leo's promising camera capability, why not a 4 inch,
or larger screen to view resulting pictures???
Boy, would that be nice, really nice....
I-Phone, you'd better watch out!
Sure hope Verizon grabs this one...
Please, please, please

Why is this phone not on GSMArena's database?
Clearly it's a GSM phone.
In fact, why are none of Altek's phones on this site?

Hi, I love Altek Leo since I watched it on last CNET Asia 2010 at Singapore. It's an amazing phone. I want to know much more about its release in Europe or in Asian markets about price and features, especially if it could be update 2.1 Éclair to 2.2 Froyo.
Anyway I created an Altek Leo's group at Facebook if someone wants to join it and watch pictures & information about this device.

> In reply to NONE @ 2010-10-01 07:09 from Mfx1 - click to readAltek has been making cameras and I have seen their camera phones in Hong Kong (one with keypad and the other with touch screen) The price was cheap and picture quality was good. But end up I didn't buy it because it was not a 3G phone, unknown OS and the phone is kinda thick.
Now they have smart up to use Android OS. I am pretty sure the picture quality would be good but the size and don't know what kind of CPU they will be using.

Altek ?? Is this a new company ? I dnt trust buying p
hones from new companies, first of all.. Signal issues, then battery issues, them software bugs, then lack of android support .. They just wana fool everybody with a camera. Good try.

Looks Very nice, just 3.2" is to small, 3.5 or 3.7 would have been a lot better...

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2010-10-01 01:55 from LaN5 - click to readWell, In a camera I would agree that 12Mps is too much.
But in a phone without optical zoom it makes sense, since cropping is the only way to zoom on that.
Plus you can use the extra pixels for video recording.
The Altek however has opctical zoom, so they should have focused on good quality, less pixel dense sensor.
But maybe, just maybe they will actually pull it of.
I could see my self getting this if the camera is Good. I really like how it looks just like a camera on one side.
And it works with SE liveview display, so most of the time the size and weight wouldnt be a problem.
