its like Windows upgrades - they include downgrades in the upgrades so there is room for more upgrades in the future to fix the downgrades.
i will skip all devices with gorilla glass 5.
Blacklisted = Sd810, Gorilla glass 5.
sohai, 20 Aug 2016your solution is easy... cheap aryclic plastic would suit you perfectly. And i think you should wait for metal screens
hahahahha :D All the GG4 phones scratch at the same level (6 and 7). Every test is different, but they all scratch at the same levels. GG5 scratch at level 3 and they go to say its Zack's fault, and its not lab test and blablablba.... :D So they dont have a problem with GG4 tests, but when they got exposed for Scratchilla Glass 5 then the test is not valid. We dont live in labs now do we? Zack is testing the real world situations where your phone may come in contact with keys, coins and other stuff that can scratch your screen.
Gorilla glass was always about marketing. Corning doing some lad damage control here, hahahahaha
Well in my experience corning glasses are very hard to break. I had a moto g first generation with gorilla glass 3 and i drops it atleast 3 times a day accidentally with some height and various surfaces. Boy it never scattered or scratched.
sam, 20 Aug 2016Two test : 1.Jerry rig everything. 2. Phonebuff drop test. In 1 st test it scratch at... morephonebuff ranked the note 7 as their third toughest screen. It was dropped 50 times and still funtioned and the front screen was not fully shattered. Your comment is a little misleading.
zohair, 20 Aug 2016i dont know what they want actually..........no one expects a phone to be bullet proof or so m... moreBut it shows that you should not put your phone on the same pocket with your keys or earphones.
This is very disappointing, and their excuse amounts to "you're scratching it wrong".Poor effort at spin and damage control.I actually like the edge screens, simply for appearance sake, but they are poor with screen protectors, and especially bad with the preferable tempered glass screen protectors.
I think the tests that JerryRig conducts are reasonable but do lack true scientific precision. While that does not invalidate their results it does leave them open to the kind of defensive responses that have come from Corning.
Having said that, the 'metal' transfer argument does not come across as credible and rather devalues Corning's overall response.
The bottom of the line is that single material properties tend to be a compromise. Greater resistance to impact makes the material 'softer' and so more vulnerable to scratching. In the future it might be possible to 'surface harden' glass in such a way that the overall glass is resilient to impact while the surface maintains scratch resistance - much like various metal surface hardening techniques.
For now what JerryRig suggests of applying a screen protector on top of the GG5 screen seems like a excellent compromise.
Yeah yeah, blah blah, JerryRig's results are very consistent with all the GG4 devices and now suddenly he can't do tests properly with GG5? Please shut up Corning. In fact if you guys wanted to do clean business then you should have probably mentioned that this new glass is more shatter resistant but more prone to scratching also, but let's face it, clean business is not something which is in your dictionary.

It's Mohs not Moh's -.-
Anonymous, 20 Aug 2016so want do people actually want? a shatter-resistant or a scratch-resistant screen? A reliable shatter-scratch-resistant screen
I just cancelled my preorder because of this. Scratch resistant is very important especially for people like me who lives in sandy area, sands can get into our pocket and destroy the screen. Why phone maker still not using sapphire glass? My counterfeit 50 usd watch use it, 5 years not a single scratch
defending themselves. they didnot do the proof. just stated it
Anonymous, 20 Aug 2016so want do people actually want? a shatter-resistant or a scratch-resistant screen?Obviously - scratch resistant should be the priority!!!
AnonD-504210, 20 Aug 2016I assume you dont know anythingDear Da Vince,
How friendly and demeaning can you be? You know nothing about me, so how can you judge about me? Luckily you imagine it only, nothing more.
Hve a nice weekend with your fabulous life. Best wishes from someone who does not judge others.
They're not giving us the truth, on the contrary they just defend themselves as any company would do, but on a bad way, insulting Jerry.
Corning, admit it. You screwed up.
Scatch resistance is better for not 7 as could not get a curved tempered glass protecter easily.
