nobody is asking you all to buy it - its for pure audiophiles !! but yes its expensive for common people. Think about the change Sony is bringing; most mobiles companies will start having 24 bit audio processing. it will change the way you listen to music!! But, i dont have words to people who still thinks low bit rate MP3 is the best thing they ever heard!! every company brings out great products!! Sony just made the greatest. Lets see which company can beat that. If you havent tried these, then you have no idea how they sounds like!!
Akinaro, 01 Sep 2016yes, because gold plating device will minimize magnetic interference... JESUS F CHRIST.... ... moredude...get your facts...its lot of physics than your knowledge!! if you dont know to use search in internet - https://www.physicsforums.com/threads/which-is-the-best-conductor-silver-or-gold-why.801099/

ET - the real one, 01 Sep 2016Tech gibberish and farting on physics is common on Audiophile community. What if I told you t... moreBro I bet PS4 Neo is doing the same hahaha. UPSCALING the res roflolmao
Spotting on the headphone;
Have anyone compare it to Audeze? let's say LCD-4?
Will this set give us "warm" sounding? As Asian products tend to give "bright" one.
I'm investing for targeting LCD-4 on let's say 5 years.
ET - the real one, 01 Sep 2016I don't doubt it at all. The players are in a league of their own, literally better than many ... moreI think they mean that copper should be gold plated as it corrodes which MAY (may not as well) lose some of its shielding capabilities
Gold don't corrodes or uses any of its properties regardless of environment, but copper do, some presume best of both worlds
ET - the real one, 01 Sep 2016I don't doubt it at all. The players are in a league of their own, literally better than many ... moreIt's main competitor iriver's astell and Kern ak380 and ak240 which is at the same price level at nw-wm1z
Now what would be interesting it's seems these Walkman can't stream , would that turn off the wealthy non audiophile market , there is no WiFi capability
SONY makes Great Bluetooth Speakers and thus is just proof of whats they can do in the High End Market users!!!
imparanoic, 01 Sep 2016I own nw-zx100 (cost usd700, Little brother to this model) since last week, I can tell you mak... moreI don't doubt it at all. The players are in a league of their own, literally better than many gear of ~10x their size, if not more. Wish I could afford one.
I just point at the PR c*** they had to add to the device's page, that is really dubious if not downright physically/mathematically wrong or impossible (like upscaling audio and gold coating to reduce interference - on a full copper chassis). Can't blame them tho, the device is targeted to audiophiles - known to believe in stuff like the CD lathe cutter thingy I showed.
The specs of the device alone should be more than enough to make it sell, wish I could get my hands on one (the non gold one is "enough" for me)

What if I told you t... moreI own nw-zx100 (cost usd700, Little brother to this model) since last week, I can tell you makes any phone and iPod sound like a tinny cheap cassette player, even with 160kp per sec mp3
Interesting fact, I and a mate tried a 2009 Walkman (nwz-x1050) and 2013 Walkman (nwz-f886) with 3 phones and 4 earphones with the same song and bitrate even compared same song with different bitrate
The 2009 Walkman with 192 kp per second sound better on Walkman than any of the phones z2, g2, s6, in fact so much better
