i've just upgraded to 2.1 via PC Companion last night! took around 40mins to complete update.
tried to download latest backup and restore tool from m.sonyericsson.com/backup but for some reason i could not download from that site directly to my phone. says "temporarily moved"
i couldn't wait so i just snyc'd my contact to google, used the old backup and restore tool, used astro file manager to backup apps.
then i updgraded to android 2.1
first impression:
phone became laggy and slow!
installed astro immediately to recover apps. (after recovering from astro, all apps no longer shows on "downloads" tab on the market app. so i think i won't be reminded/notified of updates for my apps so i installed atrackdog as well to track updates for my apps)
restored my contacts but somehow got f&$%cked up! under one contact name it duplicated the numbers, emails, etc. (one is under phone contacts, another under google account). tried again this time disabling contacts snyc with google. only enabled facebook contacts sync. seems ok as of now.
removed all shortcuts and widgets from all (5) homescreens.
set ADW Launcher as my default home. (used home switcher app).
and now it's way faster than before!!! a lot more smoother too!
used atrackdog to update apps. found 3 apps (not shown on market "downloads tab" app). updated those three via market. now those 3 updated apps are already shown in the "downloads tab" on the market app! so i reckon updating those 3 via market app from now on won't be a problem. only problem now would be for my 30+ remaining apps.. -_-; i must still use atrackdog for those...
since now i'm using ADW and the phones much more faster, i'm beginning to enjoy the upgrade! everythings noticeably faster than before the upgrade.
now i'm observing battery life. so far... since unplugging from my laptop 7am today, (now it's 1:35pm here) it's at 72% (as reported on mini-info app. i'm also using juice defender by the way and advanced task killer set to autokill "safe")
3G was on. listened to streaming music via xiialive app for 30 mins on the way to work.
turned on wifi when i reached the office and used office wifi for internet connection.
so far battery life is ok. ...so far at least... =/ haven't played any games or kept the screen on for too long...
well that's it for now.
goodluck on those still waiting for the update!
oh by the way.. ADW launcher doesn't support live wallpapers? tried to use one but wallpaper won't update when using ADW... any comment on this?
thanks!

> In reply to roelrpt @ 2010-11-02 13:28 from w0Q5 - click to readI'm in Australia but I bought my phone on eBay shipped from hong kong. Not sure if that makes any difference with region settings and all. So far so good. The speed has improved and is noticeable. The interface is very nice. I haven't had much time to play with it as much. There are some extra widgets that I find both useful and visually appealing. Overall I am very satisfied and was worth the wait.
