i got a nexus 5 and still there isn't a worthy upgrade out there. meh....
Just found out the dates they're discontinuing security patches to my nexus. My last 3 phones have all be nexus phones, although I'll admit the last one was starting to get a bit pricey, particularly since they removed the micro SD port, opting to overcharge for internal memory instead (was unhappy!) but for what you get otherwise they were good value. I'll miss them, don't particularly want a "google" phone, will have to look around when I need to replace this one (Hopefully it'll keep going for a while).
I don't get it ... it looks like PR tome I mean google is a software based company ... they got hardware too but software based , they have android os delivered as open source to any one who wants to use it on a phone no matter manufacture ,,.. they putted out side nexus devices wich were manufacture by another companies and the os was pure eligible for over 2 year update cycle with google collaboration .... but my question is how different is google pixel phones from nexus .. well they don't carry the manufacture tag which should be htc ... but ... they are receiving *** ANDROID 7.1 *** as os update .... pixel is a brand ... but the os is same android .. so they are like nexus .. they just changed the name ...reboot for people who still doesn't have an ideao of what a nexus is .... but if you talk about google phone many people will link it to the search giant t ..... so now the battle is apple vs google and no longer android ..... well lets see for me it is the same.
A very very sad news.I just want to put it in my Virtual Grand Dream Musiem!!From now on Google is responsible for my losses!!Really something very important has happened in electronic technology world!!!O.K.Are Google pixels the same as good always updated upgraded Nexus!!?Only The Best Hope.Justice Rights.
robdevil XI, 10 Oct 2016Biggest difference is in...price! 😂Of course, this time they have made 30% increase from the previous flagship model Nexus 6P 64 GB/ 128 GB.Not sure how this will be received in the markets!
I will miss the Galaxy Note series more if Samsung decides to kill it thanks to the Note7 than the Nexus branding. I miss having removable battery more than any Nexus phone.
I will definitely miss the Nexus phones. They were amazing phones for the price. And I doubt anything will compare, or be as affordable. Google should continue making them for another option, especially for those of us who can't afford the new pixels.
too bad.. android was hardly a great operating system as it was, now they took the best thing from it as well.
The only thing ill miss is price. I stopped buying after the 4. Sd slot
Yes. The thing I will miss most of all about the Nexus line is the lower price point. The Pixel is as expensive as the iPhone - for rich people only.
so basically you say google is restricting an open source android and ... this will be something but not Android. more like an Android themed ios . But at least I can say as long as other companies use the good old Android on their products we should not be too much worried and also cyanogen and oxygen os can be good options for hackers and thech boys.
I would probably never would have got in to Android and technology in general if had not had been for the affordable price of what essentially was a proper flagship.
I do not see big difference between Nexus or Pixel (haven't tested myself so far). In the next couple of years down the lines, Google may ditch Pixel and may go for something else. This clearly shows Google shies away from owning up its product lines unlike Apple which supports all its products from the first iteration onwards. You need lots of guts to do that, unfortunately, Google makes these Pixel, Nexus as some sort of "don't want to miss the boat" strategy than pursuing its end-to-end product-support-services like Apple with conviction!! At the end of the day, they can throw away this as another Project Ara or Google Glass sort of fantasy experiments and make customers look like dumb as
Anonymous, 09 Oct 2016Yes, we will miss Nexus. Pixel is just another overpriced, carrier controlled updates, proprie... moreNot to mention the 6 & 6s are hanging on iOS 10 and battery draining is way faster now. Let alone updates for 5 & 5s.

The company that broke the vow to deliver monthly security updates? Yeah right.
There's only one choice anymore for receiving on-time updates for more than two years: iPhone.
Anonymous, 09 Oct 2016Considering there hasn't been an affordable nexus in a while I don't really see the difference The 5x is very affordable
Lenovo! Here comes your chance! Keep the Moto Pure UI (stock with almost no bloatware except some useful things like Glance screen or Moto Assist) and make more agressive advertising campaigns and lower your prices and you just might collect all the Nexus users. If they release a Nexus 4-like device or an Nexus 5-like device with today's equivalent components, beleive me it is going to be one of the biggest hit ever. Just, don't screw it like you screw up the G line. The E line is very good (except the MediaTek SoC for the E3) and the X line was really awesome
