My man.... naaah, better them buy low end phones, instead of keeping progress back.
Also there is "no accidental touches" for years now if a good iteration of palm rejection is implemented...
fuck edge display, 09 Dec 2016samsung please forget the completely useless bezelless edge displays... we need useful smartphones, Yeah, having more screen in the same footprint is completely useless.
What the heck are you smoking?
Screen real estate is 90% of a phone's use these days. There is no more effective upgrade than actually making the screen bigger these days, everything else is almost maxed anyway (perf. difference between S7 and S6 was minimal for example).
Oh..my.. everything in this article sounds so perfect.. I really like the home button so I really hope that they remove it really only if there's absolutely no space for it due to the screen taking it. I'm just not a a fan of curved displays but otherwise it's perfect.
I absolutely hope that it will not gonna be just rumors, but that it will really happen. Samsung definitely needs to make the S8 completely safe and with as much as possible WOW Factors. Because the competition is not just stiff, but ultra sky-high
All what I hoped for isn't here, I was a hardcore Samsung fan. Have so many appliances too. No more galaxy for me..I thought after the note fiasco they will learn!

Forgot to mention the on-board assistant - that nobody will use!
It'll be just reduce both bezel sizes and keep them symmetrically the same depth. Home button will go (sadly) but finger print scanner will be hidden in the small bottom bezel - on screen buttons but in the same configuration (back button on the right). Front facing camera with retina recognition and speaker will stay at the top but with no logo (logo on back only). No 3.5mm jack, USB C with dual bottom speakers. No dual camera but no 'hump' & dual tone flash. Overall dims will be smaller except for thickness.

Maybe the IR-blaster sensor hole is too big hard to make it water resistant?
Scrapping the home key is not a good idea. For those still uneasy with smart phones, older people, etc. a physical home key provides an intuitive and tangible way to get out of whatever trouble people may find themselves in - back "home", to a safe and familiar screen and environment. I have advised numerous such users to go for Samsung phones for exactly this reason in the past.
Dropping the bezels may be equally bad news for those same folks, who may want a thin rim to hold on to without accidentally hitting a virtual button.

Wake up, physical keys are not needed on smartphones, they just make the phone bigger and uglier (damn that chin is ugly and ancient looking).
mir, 09 Dec 2016Good choice if they keep the current dimensions and just eliminate the bezels and home button.Current dimensions are too big. They hardly fit my pocket. Better keep the screen dimension, yet make the phone as small as an iPhone or smaller (imagine a 5.5 incher as small as a 4.7 incher)

Ew, that Photoshop. I don't think they will do that. It is like if Apple dropped it's circular Home button. This setup is basically a trademark for Samsung. Personally, I don't think this will help Samsung making bigger sales. They need innovation, not following the others. Bring something new and unexpected, like what they did with the SIII (the multi-window being the most important innovation they did on Android at that time).
Xiaomi's bezel-less display has already stolen some of Samsungs thunder . But Samsung will be stealing Apples thunder if a LED display is all Apple can come up with.

You, like a vast majority of people on this forum, complain about lack of innovation & when something comes up you slam it without it being announced & if the rumours are true, seeing what the company do with it.
I do keep to this, I think it will be really interesting to see what the screen is like & the tech they will use. Yes, the S8 could sink or swim but I will not pass judgement until I have seen it & wont be losing sleep & think Samsung are being unreasonable for wanting to do something different.
