Savor, 11 Feb 2011People doubting this partnership should check out the reviews for WP7 phones manufactured from... moreDo you really believe this?
Do you really believe that WP7 are superior to Android or Symbian?
Do you really believe that N8 has better hardware than the competion, like Samsung Galaxy S?
Do you really think that a phone of such quality as you discribe, made by Nokia, will be at good price to face competition?
I really think Nokia just decided to kill itself

People doubting this partnership should check out the reviews for WP7 phones manufactured from LG and Samsung that uses cheap plastic. They still get rave reviews because how nice WP7 is for a version 1 and Nokia is a superior hardware manufacturer than either LG or Sammy. The Nokia N8 was the best cameraphone of last year with amazing build quality. It's biggest and only real drawback was Symbian. Now imagine Nokia giving a phone with superior reception that they are known for, the all-around features (like FM radio), the N8's image quality, the scratch resistant Gorilla Glass, and the anodized aluminum along with a very nice UI like WP7? Kick ass! I honestly would have bought N8 right away had they used WP7 over Symbian.
Behold the future of Microkia... I mean Nokia:
And to think it took MS a partnership with Nokia to try to bring down Apple! Pathetic!
11.2.11 The day that Nokia have started a new relationship, and the day you have lost many many customers Nokia.
11.2.11 The day Symbian will start falling, and will lost the leadership of Mobile OS.
Hmmm, Nokia makes oval-shaped phones and WP7 is all squares. How is it gonna fit in?
Nowadays, all people want to see in a smartphone is a nice UI and easy to understand user experience. They want the fancy transition animations. Thank Apple for setting this trend. Symbian had none of it. Microsoft ZUNE HD players even outclasses the music app on Symbian. People want the UI to feel smooth. As for poor early sales, WP7 barely came out three months ago! Android was not exactly selling well their first few months either.
We have been betrayed by Nokia. Symbian must be the main platform of Nokia. And this happens just when Symbian^3 has seen the light. :(
Im dissapointed with that relationship between Microsoft and Nokia, I really don't like it. Nokia main OS is and will be Symbian, not any platform of WP. Really sad to tell the truth!!
Wow, I didn't expect this but I kinda like the alliance. I love the threatening "we have the resources and we're gonna destroy them all" :)
Bwahaha!!! Goodbye to all who purchase those symbian 3 devices.. Youll be left out again by nokia.. Oo lots of updates for wp7 and oh! The crappy ovi store well be overhauled again for wp7 and then... All the apps will only available for wp7
Every XYZ and their cousins are making android devices these days. Had Nokia gone android, it would have become just of the also-rans. Thus partening with Microsoft was its best way out of the current mess. WP7 is compellilng mobile platform with great UI and unique features like Xbox Live and Office and a powerful development model (.NET). One really to got to experience a WP7 to appreciate its beauty.
Google is still very inexperienced in making software and can get outclassed by Microsoft which has decades of experience with it. Metro is one of the slickest interfaces out there. Go to any carrier store, and people will come away impressed more with WP7 than Android. Buttery smooth. And this is VERSION 1 of WP7 which is a complete revamp of WinMo. Just because something is more popular doesn't make it better. That is the sheep mentality. Android has the better future since it is growing up fast, but it doesn't mean it is better than WP7 just because it is more popular. WebOS is not popular as either iOS or Android, but I think it outclasses both in some areas.
Has anyone see the movie, RED? A bunch of old timers decide to join forces. That is what is happening now. R.I.P. Nokia? Does anyone honestly think Nokia was getting any better had they stuck with Symbian? People are reacting fast because they hate Microsoft without giving WP7 a try. They can try to sound witty, but they don't have enough foresight to see that this can really benefit both parties.
If Nokia gonna make powerful WP7 mobile devices , then its a win win , bcoz with powerful hardware we all know we can even boot android with help of xda developer (eg - htc ht2 , originally windows mobile , but also can boot android ) may be even dual boot
what ever lets wait and see
It is sad to see Symbian employees lose their jobs like that. But the brutal truth is, Symbian got completely outclassed by iOS, Android, WebOS, and WP7. Even RIM's QNX for their unreleased PlayBook tablet looks great. Symbian look so Windows 95. WP7 is a slick, slick interface. People should give it a try. You lose the Symbian customization though, but there is a huge update this year that will remedy some of the missing features. Don't knock it until you try it. For awhile, I hated Apple and iPhone. When I finally tried iOS and went through the early jailbreak era back in 2008, my feelings for Apple and iPhone had completely changed. I still don't personally root for Apple, but still love iPhone. I don't personally like Microsoft, but still like the Xbox and Zune. It is all about the final product. The company and their image/stigma behind it doesn't matter as much to me as long as the product is excellent.
