Sure you'd get a decent signal to your desktop but if you need a solid connection and the router is that close then use the fricking cable.
I have a similar interference problem with my Surface 3 docking station, but Microsoft refuses to acknowledge or accept any responsibility for the issue, and unlike an independent display being placed next to a wireless radio/ access point, the docking station and the Surface tablet cannot simply be rearranged to minimise the effects of the interference, since they have to be locked together by design.
I had this issue with my Mac and my lg tv over hdmi, but when I use it on windows it does not happen at all.

LG products are attractive and promising but there is always a catch.
