My guess it's the wider opening is for the DUAL CAMERA LENSES, the smaller opening is for the flash/heart rate scanner.
Where is the so called "display integrated fingerprint sensor" lol
That design is bad seriously. And why nobody ever wonder how would you use samsung pay when your hand is covering the nfc when you place it on the fingerprint sensor?
Gotta love discounted S7 Edge. That design is so weird. I hope they'll at least spare the Note 8 form that design and bring back the hardware home button/FPS where it belongs. So sorry Samsung, this is too much. Hardware keys are the most iconic thing about Samsung, despite the SIII setup on the rear of mid-to-low-end devices. And you get used to it quickly. Oh well, I guess Samsung is making MS' Windows 8: the big change that ruins an otherwise excellent device. Then they'll release the S8.1...
Why are the giving so much priority to Bixby, even over the all-important power button?! And why are they betting so much on Bixby, in the first place?
Jimmy chow, 06 Feb 20175.7.. If its too big people wont buy itIf 5.7" is too big then S7E's wouldn't be so successful than the regular S7.
Eventually all phones are gonna stick the scanners in the back as they eliminate front bezels. I can see why it's kind of a weird spot, but I use the monitor back there and it doesn't take long to adjust to, scanner should be the same. More than likely it'll come back to the front once they start widely using the sensors under the glass.
I see a lot of comments about FPS forgetting this phone has iris scanner
I had very low want level after hearing they will all have curved screens. FPS location sealed the deal. Despite better judgement, LG seems to be my number 1 contender for a phone this year, unless HTC pull something amazing out of their hat (not counting on that).
Chinese options seems to moving toward the top as well... as long as they have AOSP or LineageOS option available.
If this leak is true, the odd FPS placement is confirm. Oh well, you need just 10 seconds to get used to the Galaxy S8 odd FPS placement anyway. I for one, prefer the front FPS placement anyday tbh.
I think Samsung can't put the FPS into the display yet is because that Synaptic tech isn't mass produced yet. The Synaptics new FPS technology would not be mass produced until the Q2 2017.
Regarding the rumored FPS on the back, if you stretch your index finger on the back of your phone, your finger will rest perfectly on the right side of the camera if you're using your right hand. For users who use their left hand, you just have to adjust and stretch just a little bit. (I tried this with my S6 edge).
But like I said, I (and many people) prefered the front placing FPS anyday.
But who knows, maybe the cut out is for something else entirely.
I haven't bought a Samsung smartphone in years, but the fact this having a poorly laid out FPS while you get non-existent side bezels and extremely small top/bottom bezels isn't that bad of a trade-off. You guys haven't even seen the final phone.
