Why do they think they can just "convert" Symbian users to WP7? Just like that?
I already purchased Android devices for my family members because of this WP7-crap. I recommend everybody to do the same! Let's kill WP7 together!
one of the things that i like with nokia is symbian itself. most especially s60 smartphones. with nokia pushing for WP7 will definitely mean my next phone would not be a nokia.
nokia wanting to stay on top of the cellular phone business is admirable. but other companies having their share of the market is inevitable.
AS an n8 owner in the USA, this is sorta good for me...as much as I hate to say it. Hopefully AT&T will get a good Nokia with wp7 soon...and I can upgrade cheap! Yahoo!
is nokia going to switch to windos OS for all its current models? then it will be a great boom especially while considering N8.
I am sick of people saying that Symbian is a good OS if you ignore the UI. This stupid. The UI is probably the most important part of the OS as it is the bit that you actually use! It is one of the worst UI's out, and is takes longer to perform simple tasks compared to other OS's. Thank god Nokia is moving to WP7. Symbian is awful.
Nokia will go the route of Palm, who also 'switched' to Windows before sinking into oblivion... Whyon earth a company with its resources had to hire a M$ brainwashed drone, give up its assets and switch to the most irrelevant of the mobile OSes is beyond me !
Picar0, 22 Feb 2011Are you really going to do that? Indeed, N8 makes much better photo, but I am a bit afraid you... moreI think u haven't experienced Android phones. I was also using Nokia E71, which is very rigid and solid. Nokia Phones are well-known for their build quality and only for that. After switching to HTC Wildfire, everything seemed easy-it picked up connections, synced my fb contacts n skype contacts, retrieved gmails n corporate mails too just like new windows laptop asking to configure final settings once installation is done. U may feel worried for buying N8 hurriedly and it might drop to half of its price within 3 months.. I hate nokia bcoz models with good features r releasing with lower price than those of previously released ones. For eg., E71 was Rs.22999 in 2008 n its successor E72 with camera,CPU,keypad updates was released for just Rs.17999 in d next year.. Their might b a chance of releasing N9 with 14MP with a price less than N8 in next month itself. So don't rely on Nokia phones. Samsung and HTC are doing good job now-a-days.. Hope u don't waste ur money by spending again on Nokia phones
Right now, people with some foresight at Nokia ought to have that horrible sinking feeling in their gut. Suspecting that in one - one and a half year, Nokia will be still sinking, probably even faster than before; Elop will be packing, and Nokia will stand there contemplating whether switching to Android could still save them at that point or not.
I'm a Symbian user, and so is my best friend - a happy user of the phone I recommended to him. But my next mobile will be a Droid for sure, and you can bet I'm taking my friend with me...
It's about time for Nokia to try other OS rather than a Symbian and Meemo ^_^
Im an average cellphone user, for me Symbian OS is ok, been a fan of Nokia for 11 years straight but I dumped my Nokia N8 just because I didn't like the screen size (small for its body size), I'm using Galaxy S and iPhone 4 now (the best screens in the business). But I have high hopes for Nokia and can't wait to buy a Nokia cellphone with the screen that soothes my taste.
how about a Nokia Tablet that runs Win7? That'll be quite powerfull...
Rajesh, 22 Feb 2011Nokia had been No.1 all these years, a kid company in mobile industry like Samsung and LG coul... moreI agree with you pal! Nokia slept very bad in this past 5 years (talking about software)!!!...now because they know that Android, iOS and even Bada are much better interface than the good old symbian, they have take the last choice available: windows!... let's see what's gonna happen. But they have to send out winokia phone ASAP, otherwise the already huge gap with the other OS out there will be unreachable.
Tahnik, 22 Feb 2011hehe...W7...no bluetooth transfer...no usb mass storage support...no multitasking...
without ... moreCorrect me if i am wrong but the iphone dosent have what i call true blue tooth support and it really is a mass storage device. and apps in the background are frozen so that is not really true multi task.
so what is your point?
Bricked, 21 Feb 2011Like I've said before, Now is a VERY good time to buy Symbian. I own an iphone, and am conside... moreAre you really going to do that? Indeed, N8 makes much better photo, but I am a bit afraid you will be deceived because of the UI of S^3. Otherwise, you are quite right: Symbian phones have much more battery life than Android ones and are almost at their level of features (if not above, but I am not talking about UI, this is another debate) with fewer ressources (600 MHz and 256 Mo of RAM are enough for N8 or E5 to be speedy, but Android smartphones would be at least just usable with these specs; just see SE X8 or HTC Wildfire, for example). Which make me think Nokia should continue to create Symbian smartphones, even on mid and low-end.
But now, for me, it is already not time for buying one: once all updates done, there are no further projects noticed for Symbian. That is the reason why I said S^3 and S60 3rd FP2 are walking deads.
1 advice for you, still: please use your I Phone for music and private life and your N8 for photo and professional life. The Nokia has the ability to read AND create and modificate Word, Excel and Powerpoint documents after an update which has been spread few months ago.
To everyone who read me, have a very good day.
