i just bought a google nexus one with android 2.2. the system update shows that i am uptodate. i tried installing 2.3.3 manually using the 43.6mb update.zip file from my sdcard. the install process aborts saying the signature is not valid. what should i do to upgrade. the battery life on my phone is pathetic - needs atleast 2 recharges everyday. will 2.3.3 upgrade improve battery?
i dont know what is wrong but im still android version 2.2.1 and i have the nexus one and i tried to reboot my phone and it also didnt work so please HELP?
I don´t know why, but my version is 2.3, number of version soju-userdebug 2.3 GRH55 79397 test-keys. How do I update to the 2.3.3 version? Do I need first update to 2.3.1, and then to 2.3.2 so I can update to the latest version? I tried the "checkin" by dialing *#*#checkin#*#* but nothing. Could anybody give me some help?
When you upgrade to Android 2.3.3, also unlock the music enhancements immediately that come with this release!
You can do so by installing the new MusicFX control panel from the Android Market (http://market.android.com/details?id=com.lifevibes.musicfx)!
After installation the enhanced Android Music player is activated and the audio effects are turned on and you can adjust them to your own preferences, covering: bass boost, equalizer, and 3D experience.
(The App is developed by NXP Software, who collaborated with Google on the audio effects framework in Android 2.3!)
Yet Another Android, 25 Feb 2011People will defend Android with their lives even when Google keeps screwing them by making the... moreGoogle don´t make anyone wait, the manufacturers and telocs do. If they didn´t mess with the system, changing the look, installing crap and such, you could just uodate your system using the crude Google update. This is why I stashed a shitty Motorola Cliq and bought a Nexus S. Now I can update as soon as Google pushs it out.
I just got the official 2.3.3 and it is great - nice to look at! However, my Android Market is set to default :( Need to reinstall the new version! Quite worth the wait!
I manually updated my Nexus One yesterday from the Google Servers. Check it out on the XDA forums.
Anonymous, 24 Feb 2011I'm not calling you childish. I'm calling Google childish (unless you are google that is...)
... moreI didn't understand you said I was childish but I understood to apply this to Google.
Google can do what it wants with its OS. If you dislike it, don't buy an Android phone when you want to change your phone.
By the way, you can be sure to find applications from the phone maker to add your Facebook contacts in your phone.
Android 2.3 rocks, using it now on nexus one..... Yeah BABY!
People will defend Android with their lives even when Google keeps screwing them by making them wait for the next update unless they have a nexus brand. They'll learn eventually.
I have it....bless you Google for your Gingerbready goodness
Al, 23 Feb 2011I think you didn't understand why it is so important to have a lot of information about people... moreI'm not calling you childish. I'm calling Google childish (unless you are google that is...)
I think they're very childish. At the end of the day I, as a consumer of a google product, pay their wages. & I have a functionality at the moment which came with that product. Now I'm having that functionality taken away from me. Not because of something I've done or because it is defective, but because they have a corporate disagreement with Facebook.
I could understand them deciding to not implement further functionality that was never there before. But to take it away from a phone that I've spent hundreds of pounds on because of their fit of picque with Facebook, means I'm suffering for their childish argument.
It's not a case of you've done something to me so I'll do something to you. It's more a case of you've done something to me so I'll do something to my customer to spite you..
Not sensible at all. I know it's only a minor thing re the facebook contacts, but I really, really dislike that kind of high handed attitude that they can do this to consumers without their say so. What if it was the WiFi standards agency they'd fallen out with & suddenly decided that their next update would remove WiFi functionality (bit far fetched I know but the principle is exactly the same).
When android 2.3 come on Htc Legend?
In conjunction with the release of Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread for the Nexus S, Google has decided to enforce a policy it has in place regarding data portability. To-date, Android users who download and install the Facebook application will see their Facebook contacts integrated seamlessly with their Google Contacts on their device. This will no longer be the case on the Nexus S, which will maintain two separate contact databases -- one for Google, one for Facebook. Google argues that because Facebook contact data isn't portable (meaning Facebook doesn't allow the data to be exported from Facebook to other devices/services), placing Facebook contact data on Android handsets was misleading to customers. By enforcing this policy, Google believes it is making it clearer what contacts are on the device, versus which are stored by third-party services in the cloud. In a statement, Google said, "We continue to believe that reciprocity (the expectation that if information can be imported into a service it should be able to be exported) is an important step toward creating a world of true data liberation -- and encourage other websites and app developers to allow users to export their contacts." For now, this change applies only to the Nexus S, which Google calls a "lead device."
i dont know with this update will fix my nexus s's bugs.... when there is incoming call i cant slide to answer it.. i need to press the sleep mode and on it again to answer it... and begins to be quite frequent after i update it to 2.3.2
Google needs to approve all firmware updates to other manufacturers' devices. So they first need to optimize the release for the specific device, add their customizations (Sense UI etc..), then the ROM is submitted to Google for approval and if the give the green light - it is released. So this process usually takes long time.. so I would not be surprised that by the time HTC releases 2.3.3 for Desire - google will have already release some new version.. :) So in short: if you want latest updates - buy a google phone :)
When is Gingerbread coming to HTC Desire?
well from what the post says it goes like this: android saves contacts a certain way so it can export contacts to be saved and synced in other places. and on the other hand facebook doesn't want their facebbok contacts to be saved and synced to other places.
this would stop the end user from say syncing contacts to their google or other account and using that facebook contact for other services
so for example: "i want to sync facebook contact john doe to my exchange server but wait, it wont let me and it wont let me say: navigate to john doe's house" boo hoooo "hey google there is a bug in your operating system" -this is exactly what will happen i.e. a set of things you can do with your phone contacts and a different smaller set of things you can do with your facebook contacts.
it sounds like to me that this is less of a google fault since the contacts would have usability issues and more of a facebook issue and they should just use the contact API- BLAM problem solved(but its never that easy right)
so in the end blame facebook more and not so much google.
Anonymous, 24 Feb 2011Google is prioritizing their "own" phones for the updates.Bad news for other android... moreHey smarty, Google is not responsible for other manufacturer's andriod update release. It's free and they can do it anytime if they want. It's simply that because these companies normally tweak the andriod os with their own UI customization and that is the case for delay.
[deleted post]so which kind of perfect OS do u use which doesnt have any limitations ? please enlighten us, otherwise ur a fool to laugh at other OS users if u dont use a better one.
