Don't bring apple everywhere. They aren't the benchmark how good everything is! The SoCs for Android works with multitude of hardware, still they work better and faster (yes!) than apple. The only thing apple could do faster is opening apps (still web apps on Android works faster).
Anonymous, 22 Mar 2017Snapdragon 835 Still not as powerful as it should It doesn't need to be as most consumers don't buy phones to check out benchmark scores. I am waiting if the 835 really does consume 40% less power compared to the 820/821. Seeing the S8 with only 3000 mAh (500 mAh less than the S7 edge) powering a 0.2" larger display makes me kinda iffy on it.
I went from SD600 in 2013 to 800 AB in 2014 and the power efficiency was excellent but the battery for the latter was also 700 mAh more. Then in 2015, I ended up owning three phones with only SD400! Nokia Lumia 635, Sharp Aquos Crystal, and LG G3 Beat. I got a Lumia 640 as well the following year.
My CPU doesn't need to be higher than 1.2 GHz. I don't game much either. All the specs I need is good battery life and RAM as I was stuck on 1gb for a couple of years. Fast forward to Snapdragon 820/821 with the G5, Pixel, and S7 edge which I barely got the last 32 days and perfectly content with their speed and 4gb RAM for 2016 flagships. All three of their cameras are amazing.
In 2018, we will get Exynos built on 7nm. We will get foldable displays (hopefully) after years of delay. Remember, I was stuck on entry level Snapdragon 400 with 1gb RAM for years. I used every drop of my limited RAM to my advantage. Now my more powerful phones can benefit from my experience with more efficient apps and usage.
Most idiots just buy phones if it looks good and has a decent camera. Then use that power they don't really need for their Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, or Snapchat. I really see nothing in the horizon for 2017 that looks interesting. S8+ and Note8 will look the same. Probably the iPhone Edition could be amazing but I hate iOS and iTunes.
Five Star, 22 Mar 2017Apple A10 is hardly any faster than the Kirin 960You should have done your research. Apple A10 is 2x faster than the Kirin 960.
Still single core performance of geekbench 4 can't beat Apple A10 fusion chip which has scored 3432 which is insan
Anonymous, 22 Mar 2017Not until Huawei mate 10 is launched :) Mate 10 comes with a Kirin 960 chipset :d
Qba, 22 Mar 2017Apple A10 still is faster http://www.antutu.com/en/ranking/rank1.htmWait for the 1080p runs of SD835, it will muster 200K at least.
The wrong be any real life advantage, the is always hope on the anticipation of the new series, but in the end, there is always disappointment. This year won't add nothing on performance. That's why they stayed on 4gb ram too, this will be selling point for the next year, as the new Android is, will have new features to eradicate lag and combined with the optimized modules of this new 10mm tech and more ram, the S9 will have a visible advantage. Maybe pixel 2 too...
Anonymous, 22 Mar 2017Well, first, in these most recent benchmarks. Second: https://www.androidheadlines.com/2017/0... moreAntutu is garbage. Also it's really easy to fool. Most Chinese OEMs like xiaomi artificially boost scores in antutu since it's easy to do.
jheddy, 22 Mar 2017WTF ! There are already phones sport 835 chipset the xperia xz premium, btw Apple chipset is b... moreApple A SOC from an year is always 1-2 generations faster than the Snapdragon 8xx SOC, we know, but in day-to-day usage the difference is not that big because of Android's optimisations for many cores.
zegunato, 22 Mar 2017SD835 uses 4x A73 and 4x 53? are you drunk perhaps? Qualcomm's site says SD835 uses 8x Kryo 2... morein reality you and GSMArena are both wrong and right because 835 has: 8x Kryo 280(most likely an A73 with small tweaks)
Five Star, 22 Mar 2017Apple A10 is hardly any faster than the Kirin 960Kirin 960 can't match with sd 820 and you are saying it better then apple A 10 which is benchmark king with with a score of 180000 above
Let's give a round of applause to Snapdragon for 835, because of its performance, cuting-edge features and 20% more power efficiency to 821!
Great, now we can play Angry Birds... even more totally lagfree than before!
Why have more processor power than any user will ever need?
Stondec100, 22 Mar 2017They need to operate at a higher level and aspire to beat Apple. All these chips are like poor... moreNo. Apple running a completly different software and the compatibility is insane because software and hardware is maid by the same company so thats why benchmarks for single core are so good (in multi-core android is far away from iphone for years).
Im pretty sure if u could put android on iphone and make the benchs it will be a disaster.
Sandy S, 22 Mar 2017Huawei Mate 9 will still be the best phone! :PNot until Huawei mate 10 is launched :)
jheddy, 22 Mar 2017WTF ! There are already phones sport 835 chipset the xperia xz premium, btw Apple chipset is b... moreIf you havent know this, XZ Premium will be released on 1st June. Its not released yet. It was only announced last February, doesnt mean its already available. Announcement and official release are two different thing.
It's just a rebranded 960 with more gpu cores that's all so it will cancel out the difference in efficiency between 10 and 14 nm chillax people aint so much of a jump after all the a10 is like 1500 points ahead in single core and i don't see that beaten anytime soon , i would love to Imagine a OnePlus 4 with an a10 though would be like utopia hahahah
