Apple outsources majority of its components from other companies but Samsung can do without depending on other manufacturers. Universal supplies around 60% of total panels used by Samsung. Samsung is the one who does the remaining and also does for other manufacturers.

Synaptic is an expert in this field, but apple did not use their tech for the iphone 6. So who could've done it for Apple, then? Now that Apple had an agreement with Samsung, I don't think Samsung had the expertise of providing the 3d touch technology for Apple.

Anonymous , 10 Apr 2017I have provided the proof below, and if you still deny this, then you are ignorant.Your proof is invalid. If you can't accept what i said in my reply then you are the ignorant guy. There is a reason why Apple and Samsung made a deal for OLED panels, because Apple knows that Samsung is the only one which can provide 70 million panels without any delay and it has the capacity to do so. If Samsung's panels are so issue prone, Apple wouldn't have approached Samsung in the first place. You provided a junk link and calling me as ignorant. Wow. If that link has any useful info then other major tech sites would also have published it. It didn't happen till now so it's useless info. In reality Samsung has been using these curved panels since 3 years without any production issues.

I think you hate Samsung and want to project this supposed delay in iPhone 8's release as Samsung's fault. This article clearly shows Apple's 3d sensing tech as the culprit.

Anonymous, 09 Apr 2017Here is the proof: http://www.oled-info.com/will-apple-be-forced-delay-launch-its-oled-iphone-... moreSamsung has been producing millions of curved panels from last three years for their S6E/S6E+/S7E/Note7 and latest S8. And not to forget their curved TVs. Why only now they are facing issues producing them for Apple, only you should know. Your proof link says nothing. Nothing conclusive is in there. What's the credibility of the site you used as a proof? Is it more than GSMA? Drop tests. LOL. Does iPhone's screen won't break? Bend tests for phones started with iPhone 6 itself. Show me a valid proof instead of giving links which have nothing to show.
Anonymous, 09 Apr 2017Nope. Not if they charge over 1000 just because they put an ololed in itOh yeah I forgot this one's going to cost more than regular iPhones. My bad
" Is Apple being a bit optimistic about the number of sales of the iPhone 8 with that order for 70 million OLED panels from Samsung?"
Considering that apple sells over 200 millions of iphones (mix of new and last gen models), it can very well be possible that iphone 8 sells 70 millions alone on the first few months of availability.
