The OS can and dose impact the screen performance on some phones, the X10 being a good example. SE, built it on Android 1.6 or something like that, which at the time only supported 65k color. All of that changed with the 2.1 upgrade. Allowing the software to start to use the hardware the way it should have been originally.

I don't really get the point why people moan and complain about android os version. Like seriously, when you first got the phone you buy it for what it already has and not for what it's gonna have.

well thats a shocker cuz i just sold this phone lol ... but honestly eclair on x10 was just not worth it...and i hope gingerbread is just gonna be as bad as eclair from sony for x10

It was the effect of their customers who got pissed-off because of their attitude..
they are really scared that who ever had x10 will never come back for any more costly brick. :P
nyway its good news for us ... we can taste Gingerbread
