LG doesn't seem to trust their own oleds, as the g flex line was dropped...
Anonymous, 20 Apr 2017Because IPS is superior in most things. OLED's disadvantages outweigh it's advantages. So you don't want it for stereotypical non factually reasons. Understood
fizzy, 20 Apr 2017LG are the leading manufacture of OLED panels .and thay supply OLED displays for other brand s... moreIt has been a lot more profitable for LG Display to market their Amoled technology on big screen tvs etc, the markup / profit margin on these big screen is a lot more given that its a more expensive technology. Seeing how LG mobile has been doing badly with the G4 and G5 it would have been disastrous for the LG Display division to divert its limited Amoleds to non profitable LG Mobile division (LG Mobile incurred serious losses for LG in the past year yet the company still made a profit due to its other electronics and appliances). Please note that a screen alone is not enough to sell a phone so LG mobile has to step up their game. Its even more profitable for LG Display to sell screens to Apple, Xaomi etc as these phones may most likely sell better the LGs own mobile devices.
But I guess after the G6 their is once again hope for LG mobile so LG Display probably finally thinks it worth it to invest their high demand Amoled displays in the division.
Anonymous, 19 Apr 2017htc a9 uses oled display!Wow, a mid ranger got OLED, their flagships got Super LCDx
Anonymous, 20 Apr 2017Those companies buy display for their smartphones, they do not make them. Yes I know, that was my mistake, sorry
Anonymous, 20 Apr 2017Because IPS is superior in most things. OLED's disadvantages outweigh it's advantages.Please. If IPS was superior, companies would be switching TO it, not AWAY from it. AMOLED is brighter, has better color accuracy, has infinite contrast ratio, is much more energy efficient, is thinner and is flexible. IPS is good technology. AMOLED is better technology.
fizzy, 20 Apr 2017LG are the leading manufacture of OLED panels .and thay supply OLED displays for other brand s... more@fizzy, LG Display currently the biggest OLED panels manufacturer in a "big size" measurement like for TVs and Monitor, but not in a small size area.. in this area Samsung Display is a king and currently the biggest OLED panels manufacturer for mobile devices such as smartphone, tablet, and wearable devices...
LG are the leading manufacture of OLED panels .and thay supply OLED displays for other brand so why dont thay do OLED for there own smartphones makes no since whats so ever.
Anonymous, 19 Apr 2017I understand the removable battery and flat display and all that. But why would they not move ... moreBecause IPS is superior in most things. OLED's disadvantages outweigh it's advantages.
37K is a joke!, 19 Apr 201737,000 screens per month is a joke! This is not enough for a mass-market device! That won't be enough even for pixels...
Wonderful, I like That. I think dropping the 2nd screen will mean that we will have big screen small body like the G6. Great staff there.
harikurisseril, 19 Apr 2017Finally LG is coming to AMOLED.... They should have done this before... I love LG .. but since... moreI go the other way. I bought the lg g5 specifically because of the LCD display over the galaxy s7.
Guess we all have our own preference.
Screens Maniac, 19 Apr 2017Now I'm switching from Amoled to IPS LCD because Amoled all time had quality issues like dual ... moreOh gee. Yes because most those issues have not been taken care of for many years. Nor did they start off very exaggerated from the beginning.
And lcd has zero issues and all batches are perfect having no issues at all.
Killer-0, 19 Apr 2017What? you crazy, what about HTC Google Nexus One, it uses AMOLED. investigate first.Great! What about their main flagship series? HTC 10? U Ultra? What?
Screens Maniac, 19 Apr 2017Now I'm switching from Amoled to IPS LCD because Amoled all time had quality issues like dual ... moreMaybe you should try one of the flagship AMOLEDs from a Galaxy S device, the S8 for example have one of the most color precise screens out there, there's no such "ish" tint that you're talking about, that problem is long gone.
37,000 screens per month is a joke!
This is not enough for a mass-market device!
