Isn't everyone missing the point here? This is a Walkman phone that will be launched at a low price. The Xperia X8 that it uses as a base wasn't such a bad phone, was just out speced by the competition at that price range. Cue W8, walkman rebranding, fresh lick of paint and a much lower price tag thanks to most of the development cost already absorbed by the X8 and voila, a decent cheap pay as you go phone, that just happens to also be a music player and just happens to run Andoid apps. Sony lost touch with the market? I don't think so, just aiming for a different consumer than their Xperia line-up..

Copy of Xperia X8 except:
W8
Resolution: 320X480 pixels
GPRS: 85.6 Kbps
OS: Android OS, V2.1 (Eclair)
Color: azure , Orange , Red
X8
Resolution: 240X320 pixels
GPRS: 48 Kbps
OS: Android OS, V1.6 (Donut)
Color: White , Black , Aqua Blue/White ,
Silver/White , White/Blue , White/Pink ,
Silver/Dark Blue , Black/Red , Black/Blue ,
Black/Grey , White/Dark Blue
That's it !!!!
And the fact is these differences hardly matterz.
OS upgrade was must but still 2.1 that no fair atleast 2.2
or 3.0 needed to compete the market.
Sound quality is same, now what will change: Price tag :P

I'm currently using an X8 so there's no reason for using the same sys n os for this w8.Just install an power amp app from the mrkt n I can get a better wlkman...It should come with froyo or gingerbread to compete!!

SE w8 only the copy of x8. w8 has a no stereo speaker & shake control. It’s an only logo of ‘W’ not a really WALKMAN phone. I think it sound quality is also ordinary.
SE w8 is a not walkman phone. I never want purchase it, but I am waiting form really Walkman Phone.
w595 & w995 is a great walkman phone. We can’t compare this to w8.

This is a FANTASTIC phone for those people who aren't looking for a "Always-Online" smartphone.
Hopefully carriers will sell this phone at a low price and non-data plans. Then casual mobile users can make use of the walkman-features, android market (on wifi) and not have to pay for data plans.
