Android Market surpassed the Apple App Store in free app count - read the full textApple’s App Store has held the top spot pretty much since the dawn of app stores but the times they are a-changin’. The Android Market has already surpassed the App Store in terms of free apps and analysts from Distimo estimate it will soon overtake it in terms of total apps too. Well we'd be more...

App count is pointless. Pick all royalty free jpegs on the internet and for each one generate a "$jpeg wallpaper app" and "$jpeg clock app" etc. In a few hours, you can add many millions apps, and zero value, to the app store that way. There's a lot of this and other kind of duplicated junk.

Every application in the App Store its now the best, but in iOS it looks and feels way better than the same application in other Ecosystem. you can't deny that...

- I _only_ use free apps, therefore their ratio to the total number is quite important for me.

- I'm the first to admit that I'm not (yet) using the Android appstore, but in my experience with other stores, when one is looking for a particular type of app, one's lucky to find 3...5 of them (and often none of those is suitable in the end) in spite of there being a total of tens or hundreds of thousands of apps - links to books or webpages packaged as "apps" do not an app make, sorry.

Android Market has more shit than the AppStore. They make shit just to increase their app count.

Im an android (HTC Desire HD) and iOS (iP4) user... in my experience most of the free apps in android are just garbage... and most of them are a duplicate of another app with a different name... i think thats one thing good about iOS they filter apps thats really worth downloading or not... buts still there are few in iOS that are just rubbish...

Apple will suck your wallet dry for sure.. More and more phone user changing to Android, more and more developer coming, what can you expect an OS could be since it initial release just only 2 and half year (21 October 2008)..would you mind to tell us since when IOS released? It's already a shame the user surpassed IOS and now the market surpassed app store..Apple fanboy and steve jobs just the same, never commit the failure and bunch of liar..what you gonna do to someone who better than you? sue them? haha

Personally I think WP7 market place and BB app world have the right idea......ie not posting crap. Android market place and Apple app store are awful and are just cluttered with tat and BS. Who cares about the number of sh*t, cause thats what most of said apps on both iOS and Android are.
