People relax you don't have to turn on the screen first. This is where Apple's and Samsung's tactic feedback comes in. The S8 screen can be turned on by pressing where the phone button is even when the screen is off.
sa11oum, 04 Jul 2017I'm really eager to see the biometrics on the new iPhone. It won't be this, this is too finnic... moreIf the fingerprint scanner is on the side or top power button then Sony fans will complain about it lol
MazmuREAL, 05 Jul 2017Yeah, after watching this I now know why Apple and Samsung choose not to board the train yetThey're not riding the train because they got Lambo's. lol
Vivo just showed us that on-screen fingerprint scanner is possible, but isn't as convenient as regular fingerprint scanner alike
Anonymous, 04 Jul 2017So you have to turn the display on to read your finger? Doesn't that defeat the purpose? I muc... moreYeah, after watching this I now know why Apple and Samsung choose not to board the train yet
Anonymous, 04 Jul 2017Apple is now going to ditch Touch ID fingerprint scanner and instead they gonna use 3D facial ... moreNo Touch ID isn't going anywhere, it just 'postponed' for the Anniversary iPhone (I prefer that name btw) because of all the hurdles.
And no, fingerprint scanner is not old yet! facial recognition and iris scanner is useless or not a convenient as fingerprint scanner in dark environments
So? What if we put some screen protectors..... Does this feature still works fine?
TechLover1, 04 Jul 2017Well, it is clear, obvious and so understandable, that the technology is still in its very ear... moreI think it is because Samsung and Apple don't want to showcase a flawed product (prototype) as their reputations will unfortunately take a hit as people see it not working, and without reading the article or understanding that it is not a finished product, start slamming them. There has been talk for a few years now of them doing this tech as the s7 was a possibility for it but they said it wasn't ready or reliable enough for mainstream production, so I'm sure they have had their own prototypes for a while now.

Same thinking here
What is the purpose of under the screen fingerprints reader if it is a must to turn the screen on and then open the device using the USFPR ???
the current technology it's more useful and convenient
