techguy, 18 Jul 2017Samsung need to buy Apple and shut down the whole company Samsung is worth 529 billions ... moreapple is worth $750billion by market cap. while Samsung is only $200-400billion by market cap.
Ah, Samsung. They just know how to make profit. Mist of the next iPhone will be Samsung-made. Maybe all of it with some bundle rebate.
They do everything. Cameras, storage, display, RAM, CPUs, batteries (now available without explosion mode)... That's how they've got enough money to build themselves an actual city with absolutely everything you'd expect in an important city.
RaDeon, 18 Jul 20177nm means less heating while running heavy games in high graphics quality, am I right? It's far more than this. A smaller process does mean that the heat generated for a same work is greatly reduced compared to a bigger process (say, 10nm), but you can also reduce the size of the CPU die, which means you can pack more stuff in your devices. It also means you can have more transistors and a higher clock rate, both of this meaning better performance.

Samsung is worth 529 billions
... moreget your facts straight "Apple (AAPL, Tech30) is now worth about three quarters of a trillion dollars: $750 billion. Apple's market cap is $160 billion higher than the second most valuable company in the U.S. Google parent Alphabet (GOOGL, Tech30) is worth about $590 billion."
"Apple AAPL +0.31% took the top spot in the tech group weeks after shares hit a new record high, reaching over $147 per share for the first time on May 2 despite disappointing iPhone sales. For the past year, Apple saw $217 billion in sales, $45 billion in profit, $331 billion in assets and a market cap of $752 billion.
Samsung "Samsung, the world's 15th-biggest company by market value as of yesterday and the first in South Korea to surpass the $200 billion mark, has jumped 40 percent this year.Dec 7, 2012"
souce forbes as of may 2017
"Yet again, South Korea-based Samsung took second place, with $174 billion in sales, $19 billion in profit, $217 billion in assets and a market cap of $254 billion. Hon Hai Precision Industry was the the only other company to break into the top 10 from the Asia-Pacific region."
techguy, 18 Jul 2017Samsung need to buy Apple and shut down the whole company Samsung is worth 529 billions ... moreif Microsoft was not successful in burying Nokia totally even with its dead sales for many years, Samsung ain't gonna be able to that with Apple even if Apple is just 2nd in the list for MobileMarket, Apple right now has bigger value and not Samsung
Jaquet, 18 Jul 2017Basically in phones a major limit of CPU's is the amount of space in the phone to dissapate he... moreAlso, the smaller the transistors and the space between each and every individual transistor, the more transistors you can fit in the same space which equals in better performance even without having to change anything rise. Changing the architecture, updating the instruction sets and other stuff they do to processors, brings additional benefits to the device.
Jaquet, 18 Jul 2017Basically in phones a major limit of CPU's is the amount of space in the phone to dissapate he... moreAs a rule of thumb, yes....
But don't forget the microarchitecture, and the software/driver at hand here too.
They can have drastic effects on the efficiency.
Not to mention other components (eg/ bandwidth) that can bottleneck a system's performance or low-power drain.
Individual components are nice, but usually, electronics are more than the sum of their parts.
RaDeon, 18 Jul 20177nm means less heating while running heavy games in high graphics quality, am I right? Basically in phones a major limit of CPU's is the amount of space in the phone to dissapate heat compared to the amount of heat created by the processor. The smaller the processor, the less metal electricity has to go through creating less electrical resistance and less heat. This means that a 7nm chip will be more thermally efficient compared to a 10nm chip. So now the chip is both more effecient and outs out less heat so the manufacturer can make a faster chip that uses the same amount of energy and creates the same amount of heat as a larger chip. Sorry that explanation was a bit messy.
Anonymous, 18 Jul 2017One of the co-CEO played a key role huh? Something's weird.. Why? It's a very smart move for Samsung. Samsung now not only gets the profits from its own phones but it gets profits from it's main competitors phones. Seems like a no-brainer to me.
techguy, 18 Jul 2017Samsung need to buy Apple and shut down the whole company Samsung is worth 529 billions ... moreif i were you, i'd go on google (or bing or yahoo or baidu or whatever) and search info before posting. FYI, apple is the most valuable company in the world by market cap.
totally agree apple steal ideas and copy products and slap their logo on it and mark up price and for ads revenues
