[deleted post]Thats the problem tho isnt it? Sony doesnt give away Xperias and incentives, whilst some other companies throw their phones as bakery does bread crumbs into hands of people reviewing.
Thats why they love them so much and always have a certain...postive note to say about them.
Its marketing mindtricks and psychology.

So I would definitely not call it a gimmick.
Its a really nice and creative feature that lots of people use.
Tann Hauser, 16 Aug 2017New Sony phones do look beautiful and classy, they just stand out from the rest of the bunch.
... moreYou guys keep replying to nonsens boring people that argue about nonsens, like their opinion on phone design or bezels, as if some phones are better somehow if they have some other design, extra curve or whatever.
So I ll reply to myself.
"Why yes, I believe it has sth to do with VR or AR, mwybe even coupled with PS4 remote play, or even PS VR."
"Yeah, I was thinking the same cant wait to see what Sony came up with this time".
Great times :-)
legony, 16 Aug 2017Slow-mo is a massive gimmick only enthusiasts use that crappy feature lol Gimmicks like 960fps Slow-Mo is fun and entertaining but the 'Edge' gimmick is not entertaining. Making the smartphone looks more beautiful is the only thing that a 'Edge' gimmick can give... + that 'Edge Screen' is so annoying while watching videos or playing games. But the 'Squeez' gimmick by HTC is a lot worst.

it's the competition looking back in Rear view mirror, scared cause Sony is building spectacular New flagship beaSt cells!
Do people hate Sony on purpose?
Just look at it. Everytime that GSM published an article about Sony and few hours later the comment section becomes noisy?
But if it's Huawei, Asus or LG? The Comment section doesn't hit more than 100 etc. T.T
Surficial, 16 Aug 2017He's not wrong, if your phone falls on its front onto a flat surface, it's most likely going t... moreExactly my point. It's extremely rare for a phone to fall perfectly flat on the surface without the bezels hitting the floor even a little. It always falls slightely inclined and 99 of 100 times bezels bear the brunt of the force.

Sony is not doing anything to attract anyone
I use sony but this is a disappointment someone has to do their homework the person approving the design needs to be replaced.
Anonymous, 16 Aug 2017There is no justification for those huge bezels
They could be less

Sony had lots going in in the bezel, any electronics designer will appreciate how the bezel is filled with lots of componet(cough, cough iphone cough cough) rather than filling it with part of the motherboard,
What i mean is under the bezel is the 1/2.3 triple layer sensor, 1/3.06 AF front cam, stereo speaker
Heck, even lg had fo use smaller sensor for the g6 and there's rumor that v30 will even had smaller sensor
happy fanboy, 16 Aug 2017ONLY if the bezel hits floor first. did u read my comment before? i said we are very lucky if ... moreYeah so? Is there no chance of bezels hitting the floor. In fact there is a probability of 4/6 of the bezels hitting the floor. And 1/6 each of the front or back falling on the floor. I am not blind but your brain seems to have deserted your body.
happy fanboy, 16 Aug 2017ONLY if the bezel hits floor first. did u read my comment before? i said we are very lucky if ... moreHe's not wrong, if your phone falls on its front onto a flat surface, it's most likely going to fall at a slight angle and the edge will hit first. The largest force goes through the bit that lands first, wherever that may be.

now how much is the pribability of the bezel hits the floor first? read again may comment dear fanboy.
i sometimes drop my phone. in most cases, the screen and the back hits floor first. not the bezel.

Yup bezel kill
change the design seriously, its getting absolutely boring. Remember Xperia Arc with those curve designs? what is wrong with Sony really?
DenisXD, 16 Aug 2017And you better don't comment on something you don't like. If Sony is so bad why you bother to ... morei can put any comments i want. they really stab theirself with those bezels. and keep failing to sell their phones because of those bezels. this phone would be beautiful if they reduce the top and bottom bezel by half.
happy fanboy, 16 Aug 2017sony fanboys think that bezel has similar function to car's bumper. but actualy it doesnt. w... moreWhen a phone falls on its bezels, a force acts on the bezels. That force turns into stress and undergoes nearly triangular distribution and starts to flow towards the screen. By the time it reaches the screen, it's already distributed to a large area and is less likely to damage the screen. So the bezels do protect the screen in most cases. But Sony's are huge and need to be trimmed down to the level of lg g6. So your logic is completely garbage and so was your analogy. S8 has no side bezels so the force directly shatters the screen. So both Samsung and Sony have bad bezels on practicality front.

Not any different than anything else
These sony fans would do anything to defend sony and their decisions
Regardless if the design is good and the cameras are outstanding, their xzs was launched this year yet they choose to launch another phone just with an updated processor and same design like all of the X series
Someone mentioned that it is selling in his country, wherever I go I never see anyone ask for a sony or look at a Sony phone
