Yeah, it's way too expensive. Here in the philippines its apprx. 22k (Php) according to sulit.com. HTC has the HTC desire (version 2.2) here at the same pricing. It's not yet officially launched here. The features is really in mid-range scale. Although the hardware is really stunning. Hope the price hets cheaper.

Can anyone please educate that why are HTC phones so prohitibly expensive. I understand that HTC packs some serious features & a nice UI. Is it because of the import Duty

I own a Touch Diamond. When I bought I was like 100th owner of the mobile overall in India. It cost me 25k ( around $500 ). Still the price is around $450. With this as the case and very rare HTC Service centers, combined with very low user awareness ( 95% of the people here still thinks my touch diamond as a cheap Chinese Mobile !!! ) Its tough for HTC to get a large User base in India

its way too overpriced.. It should have costed no more than 15000($326) at start.. We already have the galaxy sl retailing for 18000($392) and it beats the htc salsa in nearly all aspects.. This phone can only compete with mid-lower range android phones like the galaxy ace..

Gsmarena, check HTC official site, Salsa has already bumped to 800MHz since days ago.
And USD 460, are you serious? Desire S is only IDR 4,300,000/USD 490 (today currency) in Indonesia.

just too expensive for such a poor resolution and mid-range features. Same site offers Galaxy S for just INR 2000 (USD45) more. Who would buy this?!!

Its very happy to hear, high end mobile manufacturer are giving first priority to india, like htc salsa, galaxy s2. Apple should no more treat india as dumping station, launching their products one yr later
