HTC on facebook says:
"HTC
To resolve Desire's memory issue and enable the upgrade to Gingerbread, we will cut select apps from the release.
Look for status updates starting next week. We apologize for any confusion."

The devs are right... If you have both sense 3.0 and gingerbread, then you will be left with 40 mb of free space internal and effectively you can only install 2 applications maximum for smooth running with animation, of course. But you devs at htc can atleast upgrade to gingerbread with same sense 2.1.. the voice action features are active only with gingerbread... :(

and Sony ericsson X10 with 256mb ram CAN run gingerbread?
that's nonsense. htc just want to force their users to upgrade their phone.
lucky for us - we got cyanogenmod. we don't need their favors.

Then I won't be upgrading to another HTC phone in couple of months. Probably will get new Blackberry Bold.

Great! Now HTC will upgrade your phone's memory! No, it's not that, they have an alternative for you to cut some unnecessary crap from the rom, which didn't exist yesterday! My guess is that HTC tried their luck :) although they pissed a lot of users with this move ...

Rest assured I am not liekly to purchase a HTC device any time soon. The Samsung Galaxy S 2 eats them alive and they really don't seems to care much!
