I have found there is a slight issue with pictures. If you set the phone as default storage, all is hunky dory! However, if you set Memory card, (seeing as it comes with a 1gb), you cant zoom in to photos OR view them full screen...
Surely this is a bug?

This phone doesn't appeal to me very much other than the fact it is a slim slider...I currently own a D900 and its a great phone but to have a 3MP phone with a poor flash doesn't make much sense and now instead of adding a brighter flash you get 5MP with the same poor flash..:(...samsungs have the best displays, good sound quality, ok talk time but it won't compete with the K850 or N95 in terms of photos :(....and thats the word!!

To Mel : You wrong saying this: " - when shut down, the alarm does not work unlike Sony Ericsson models (I wanna conserve energy and use the alarm at the same time)"
Samsung have a special function to activate the alarm when the phone is turned off, and this function is in alarm menu and it's called "Auto Power"

This can be summarised as a upgrade of the slider models fm Samsung..
I hav 2 slider models now, the D600 and D900.. basically I expect the same issues I gripe with these 2 models..
- short battery life
- lack of colours (w luv to see a green colour here)
- when shut down, the alarm does not work unlike Sony Ericsson models (I wanna conserve energy and use the alarm at the same time)
Other negative points for this model:
- Menu & Contact buttons looks small
- Round central button?? pls don move to a joystick control like Sony, it sucks big time..
But brownie points for:
- 5 mp cam.. its a jump fm 3.2mp
- another cam for conf call
- 3G if possible to ensure smooth conf calling
Suggestions:
- Time to band together w some high quality sound company like Bang & Olufsen to create quality listening :)
- And w prefer a non touchpad model, no iphone for me here.. :P

The speculation over it being 2.5g or 3g is over I belive.
Now we got the first glimpses or upcoming G800 with following specs:
** 5mp cam with zenon flash and autofocus.
** AF 5.8 - 17.4 mm focus length (hints for 3x optical zoom???)
** 3G or HSDPA connection
** Might be slider might be touchscreen (no info so far)
Have a look

Samsung always presents the best design phone everytime.
This G600 is 2.5G Phone, no possibility to have a videocall, that is what I know for sure since my working area is in the Wireless Telecommunication, that offer 2G, 2.5G, 2.75G, 3 and 3.5G even now for 4G.
The advertisement also not show the possibility to do this videocall, and it only has 1 camera (5MP) in the back of the slide (when u slide it up).
Concerning about the body, that made by plastic, not all made by plastic. some are made by the metal AFAIK from the advertisement.
But remember, the biggest plane right now in the world, Airbus A380 also made by plastic, not the allumunium anymore, that was invented in Netherlands, I knew it for sure. So do not underestimate the plastic material, cause it may have strength more than metal now by NanoTechnology invention.
Above all, it is a good phone, with realistic price. Wondering what kind of phone that Samsung will made for 4G, for example in WiMAX network. I prefer to have clamshell phone, thin one, but with very good UI and stable software and more energy reservation scheme. Samsung, can you provide me with that?

It doesn't look like the g600 has 3g and if you zoom in on pictures you can definatly tell it is some sort of light sensor!
I don't think video calling is neccessary anyway it's a waste of money if you ask me.
P.S I totally agree with the comment below! I'm glad someone thinks the same way!

Another example of what Samsung do well... a decent 2.5G handset without an operating system giving you the specs of so-called 'high end' models like the Nokia N95 without the compromise in stability and usability for calls. Also bearing in mind that Samsung are the MASTER in moving form factor handsets; why did flip phones become iconic? Samsung A300. Why did sliders become popular? Samsung D500... sure the D500 wasn't the first, but it was the first really popular one (before people remind me of the Siemens S55)... and the G600 is the next step... the design is like the E900 without the downside of the touch sensitive keypad...
Just FYI... the N95 will never be as stable and dependable as a Samsung with closed OS... and this may be released later than the N95, but at least Samsung think their handsets out rather than releasing ugly bricks that are only good for doorstops within a short time. Also the D900 and U600 are TOO thin and so screens break too easily... it's a FANTASTIC thing that this won't be as slim as either of them.
Cheers.
Dave.
