You know cute characters in RPG games. The Xbox 360 have more sports games and games for western audience. American cars are also unpopular in Japan and the rest of the world. With the exception of Saudi Arabia.
Maybe this Yahoo phone could be a game changer in Japan but I don't know how popular Android is in Japan. Does the os have large fanbase?

What is left behind when Yahoo, being a competetor of Google, is launching an Android phone. Come on NOKIA, what are you waiting for? Please launch Android, parallel with Windows Phone 7 and see the difference.

Japanese culture is not always gentle with other Asian manufacturers....

So Samsung and others are not welcome there...

dear "simple user" i am true nokia nut i've owned almost all the nokia n-series devices. i still have all of them boxed up in a corner. recently i switched to android cuz i cudnt pass up a PS certified phone. i still have the n97 and love it over any iteration of ios devices. i'll never spend my hard earned money on htc, just cuz they humiliated nokia. so please dont post a comment just thinking bout yourself.
thank you

American popculture is huge in Japan. Anything american is cooler than domestic stuff. One of the reasons why Apple is huge in Japan compared to domestic and neighbouring countries companies. Japanese people in general dislike koreans to say the least, so buying korean such as samsung, lg is no go. chinese products likewize. Yes Android is an american brand but it's on domestic hardware so it's popularity will be so n so imo. I know I'm generalizing :)
