Motorola Atrix 2 a.k.a. Edison gets hands-on treatment

I am extremly disappointed by the second iteration of this device.
The greatest features of the first Atrix were its dock capabilities.
Unfortunately, it was very underpowered (hardware wise) and the laptop/desktop software was not enough optimized.
Acknowledging that and seing what kind of hardware is already used in other devices, one could have expected that the second generation of the Atrix would have the most powerful hardware of all smartphones in order to have enough muscles to provide good to great laptop/experience.
What i see there is a device still quite underpowered and who will certainly not provide a good experience in laptop/desktop mode.
Motorola has had a great concept with the Atrix, it is too bad it is unable to provide a great device from this concept.

This seems to be more of a downgrade.
Atrix = 1GHz Dual Core w/ nVidia Tegra2
Edison = 1GHz Dual Core w/ PowerVR SGX 540
Atrix = Fingerprint scanner
Edison = None.
Atrix = 16GB onboard memory
Edison = 8GB
p.s. Just a minor correction to your article..Atrix has a 4.0" qHD screen, so the Edison does not 'remain the same screen' size.

i dont think it slower than tegra 2,in terms of CPU or GPU. the GPU it self is not singlecore.and dont forget omap chipset is more energy efficient than tegra 2.

Besides the slightly bigger screen I dont see anything else to call this a successor, more like a step backwards to me.

SGX 540 is on par with Nvidia GeForce ULP and better than all Adreno GPUs in Qualcomm SoCs(except Adreno 220). It is surpassed only by Mali(SGS2) and Adreno 220(HTC Sensation) in some benchmarks. Source : http://www.anandtech.com/show/...redefined/17
