Well suprise suprise, I've just got my 2X back from it's second period of repair, and even though I have checked both the OTA and Lg software updating tool, guess what? NO UPDATE!
I guess the 1st november was just another phantom promise from LG then.
Last LG phone I'll ever touch!

Yeah buddy, just updated to Gingerbread 2.3.4! So far so good, everything seems to be working fine. Theres still a little lag from time to time but overall it seems to feel a bit faster and snappier.

Just chatted with LG Germany :
"Mein Name ist Markus Schneider. Für die freien P990 ohne Branding ist ein Update 2.3. Gingerbread verfügbar seit heute."
In english it means the update for LG P990 withoud branding is available from today in Germany but only with the PC tool and not OTA.

Don't know about the 2X but as far as the 3D is concerned, I remember LG saying it would get GB sometime in autumn. And november is still autumn so what's the point??? Besides that, I really don't care that much about it as the 3D is one of the best performers right now and GB is not Jesus Christ... Anyway, I don't see any performance disadvantage in real world usage in comparison to its main competitor, the SGS2.
Also and if I'm not wrong, ICS supports much bigger resolutions than those of the LG 3D or SGS2, so what's the point using it on these devices??? Hardware has to cope with software requirements for getting the best experience out of it, otherwise it's just like an old diva who doesn't know that the right time to leave the scene was in fact yesterday...

Just last week I went ahead, due to serious performance problems, and upgraded to Gingerbread, via Cyanogen Mod7. NOW they decide to release their own upgrade!?!?! Well Sc*w them!
It's a great phone that doesn't deserve its software. LG's PC-Link IV doesn't hold a candle to SyncCell either.
