On 06 May 2012 outside of Springfield MA my iPhone 4S was showing EDGE at 5AM and sometime before 7AM switched to 3G. Have power cycled the phone twice - its indeed 3G. Turned off WiFi and did a speed test ... nearly 3 mbps download and 1.7 mbps upload

It is May 2012, I am in Portland, Oregon. I've wandered all over and I can't get anything more than Edge speeds. I have the 3G setting in Networks turned on. Perhaps there are some other settings? My iPhone4 is officially unlocked, not jailbroken, running iOS 5.1

"I wonder if this has anything to do with the, at&t -T-Mobile merger fallout & the new network roaming agreement..."

I wanted AT&T to buyout Tmo in hoping to get 3G speed on iPhones but that failed.

2G on Tmo is slow as hell like 0.15 KB/sec. Hurry up and bring 3G nationwide.
