Nokia launched the Nokia N9, the outcome of efforts in "Nokia's MeeGo program. The Nokia N9 is a pure touch smartphone which introduces an innovative new design where the home key - typically located at the bottom of the device - is replaced by a simple gesture: a swipe. Under Nokia's new strategy for smartphones, MeeGo will place increased emphasis on longer-term market exploration of next-generation devices, platforms and user experiences"

Nokia decision to go with WP was financial and in the state Nokia is in, it made since. I still haven't seen where Nokia said that it will kill MeeGo. I hope that will continue to honor their word on support for this device I currently use.

It's sad that the Meego-original Swipe-UI will either die or be ported to that STD Windows Phone OS. It's such a cerebral experience.

Nokia has made N9 to non-English language consumers till wp support these languages
for example : wp won't reach middle east till it support Arabic

Its like the iphone .If the apple launch only one iphone and thats it no one would happily buy it but they launched other iphones like 3g 3gs 4 4s so if the Nokia will launch another Meego sets instead of flop Symbian (Symbian was once the king of market) Meego can develop much faster

When they started the whole thing( and Felop killed it)really hoped that with time Meego would replace the curent Symbian. I guess Windows with Nokia in their hands thinked this could be a real tough competition( who choosed an WP7 Nokia over a Meego one?).

I used to be MeeGo Revolution but I've moved on to Tizen now. Sorry Nokia but you shot yourself in the foot in my opinion.

MeeGo is so refreshing to use. Just swipe. Love it. Hoping some more popular apps come out like WhatsApp, Facebook and Twitter.

you neglected to add that there are 3500 improvements in the update ( I'm sure most are bug fixes, but it's still an impressive number)
