The reasons for not producing an app could be summed up like this: "we can't be bothered to do extra work"
A major site should be offering a mobile web version *AND* apps.

Doesn't display properly on the Samsung Galaxy Note. It only displays across about 70% of the screen. Both from the Andorid Market are the same. When viewed from Phone News and Phone Genie the content looks fine fortunately.

I'm normally browse desktop version on operamini. while reading this I opened a tab for mobile site. When I ran to it after read this article; honestly I haven't noticed any difference between desktop n' mobile sites on first sight. it's nicely done.
