> In reply to Anonymous @ 2012-02-28 19:14 from ucvR - click to readbe cautious , it still depends on the algorithm that bind the 7 pixels to 1. Nokia should get that right , else it'll be a big disapointment

> In reply to chipshill @ 2012-02-27 11:38 from i5%9 - click to readbecause they use the whole 20MP rather than overpolating them to become 5MP.. but there are 36MP DSLR out there (nikon d800) about the same as the effective resolution of the 808, which is 34MP (16:9) or 38MP (4:3).. and there are cameras with more than 50MP, like those medium and large format cameras..

for goodness' sake, read up about why the 41MP is there before judging it useless.. it is meant for overpolating them to produce the best 5MP/8MP pictures out there..

i understand, as a photographer, that MP doesn't necessarily result in better pictures, but remember the technology behind it, which is something that has not been implemented before in phone/PnS, or maybe even any other camera AFAIK.. the sensor size is bigger, and practically, the pixel size is almost the same as those found in normal 8MP cameraphones.. the sensor is bigger than many PnS cameras out there..

i can't emphasis enough, but please read up about the sensor technology.. and no, i am not nokia/symbian fan.. in fact, i am an android user, so those of you who want to call me fanboy for this, think twice, or even better, read up rather than think about that..

> In reply to Its me @ 2012-02-27 11:45 from PUfj - click to readyes, it is 5MP in 16:9 format (8MP in 4:3), but you can turn off the PureView setting and get the full 34MP (16:9) or 38MP (4:3).. full resolution is 41MP but they only use an effective resolution of 34-38MP and condense about 7pixels out of those 34-38MP to form one single picture which results in higher detail and lower noise level.. moreover, you can "crop" pictures and ended up with a lossless digital zoom.. read up the article in this site..
