I feel sorry for HTC users! They've had to wait sooooooo long to get ICS......and even now they're not sure when their phone will get the update!!!
My Nexus S is running ICS since December!! Haha!! That's why you buy a Google phone!!
Motorola too seems to be sending out an update too along with htc phones. Here is the list. http://phonemaya.com/News/Android/htc-and-motorola-to-follow-the-suite-now-for-ics.html
Mike, 14 Mar 2012To all those posting "Y U NO UPDAT MA FONE", take a good honest look at your handset... moreI agree, you really hit the nail on the head here.
Phone such as mine (Desire S) can just about handle the last update, and I have a feeling it wont run ICS so well, thats the reason lower ranged phones cant be updated.
People are expecting the next evolution of android on all devices past and present, however they must be in this case be willing to move to the next evolution of device. As software improves so must your hardware it is as simple as that.
Errr....think I'll by a Sony Xperia instead thank you very much.
Mike, 14 Mar 2012To all those posting "Y U NO UPDAT MA FONE", take a good honest look at your handset... moreCouldnt have been said any better.
I'll also add that I received an email from HTC after enquiring about the Sensation update and they said "the update is currently being rolled out but their server can only handle 30,000 updates per day".
Im no rocket scientist but I'm guessing theres more than 30,000 HTC users in the world so we should just be patient and know that if they listed our phones as compatible, then we will get the update.
To all those posting "Y U NO UPDAT MA FONE", take a good honest look at your handset. The Desire S was based of the HTC Desire which didn't even recieve on official 2.3 update. It's got outdated hardware and will likely crash and burn under the stresses of ICS. Think of iOS 5.1 on iPhone 3GS - laggy and generally unusable.
The HTC Wildfire S is an entry level handset, if you want forward compatibility you need at LEAST a mid-range handset like the Desire S.
If it's going to be an issue, go flash with an ICS ROM and see how your phone handles it. Or just use a custom launch to make it look like ICS.
Seriously, HTC update all devices that will IMPROVE the user experience with new software, not degrade it.
Anonymous, 14 Mar 2012plzz i also want xplorer to get 4.0 htc explorer won't get the ics uptade simply because it's hardware won't be able to run it properly... a 600mhz cpu is not enough... it needs at least 1ghz
Anonymous, 14 Mar 2012Here here! That is really crappy. How can they not update an ex-top of the line phone, which i... moreJust to let you know, the Samsung Galaxy S didn't receive the update as well.
Why HTC panache/mythouch 4G isn't on this list. same hardware has desire s and incredible s. What the probleme HTC answer me or I will never buy a HTC phone again
Htc desire Z won't update to ICS Because it as only 800MHz processor for ICS it as to be Atleast 1GHz processor or more
HTC rocks... Samsung lags in updating their old fones & thy only concentrate on new fones... But HTC satisfies all their customers... Thnx to HTC :)
My DHD geyying 3rd update & which i never expected...
ymkb1994, 14 Mar 2012Will explorer get?,..... iam waiting for it....plzz i also want xplorer to get 4.0
Saipro!, 14 Mar 2012That's strange. I've been on Sense 3.5 since last year. Apparently, the higher Sense iteration... moreIt may very well be I need to hard reboot my device, its the error message 'HTC sense has encountered an unexpected error'
Doesnt seem to affect aall devices so its probably just mine :( hopefully this ICS update will fix it :)!
yes, we will not be left in the dark.
Will explorer get?,..... iam waiting for it....
I wish 'HTC Wildfire S' to be in this list :)
No Desize Z Sucks.
New Sony Experia may be my next phone.
AnonD-977, 14 Mar 2012I'm disappointed that my Cha Cha is not on the list.seems the internal memory is rather small on the htc cha cha
Neuromancer, 14 Mar 2012No Desire Z...great job HTC. This is the last phone I'll ever buy from you. Here here! That is really crappy. How can they not update an ex-top of the line phone, which is just over a year old? Not good. Switching to Samsung!!!
