The new Sony Xperia™ S was launched in the UK on March 9, 2012, and sees its Global release date now. Superb device, slick, fast UI, stunning display and a camera to match - i've been very happy with my new Sony, and the Exmor R™ camera sensor makes everyday shooting a breeze, not only for the occassional shooter, but also for the more advanced photographer - highly recommended.

we dont need quad cores in cellphones.. even dual core is overkill (in most cases) look at windows phones ? single core and they run as good if not better than android phones ? arent they more smoother ?
I own Galaxy S II T989 and i keep my phone De-clocked @ 1.2ghz and one core disabled.. i dont see any difference other than quadrant scores But yes i get great battery life.
depends on personal preference.

In mobile phones quad core is useless and will increase only battery consumption. It is company's strategy to provide the customers what they don't need on higher cost. Samsung is leading one.

Now they just need to release Android ICS for Xperia S along with some bug fixes and this phone is set through 2012.

This is an extremely beautiful, snappy device. Big brilliant display, great performance...

Too bad the specs are indeed a bit "oldish", when samsung introduces their new flagship, sony will probably be blown away as sammy will probably introduce even higher specs for a simmilar pricing.

Don't get me wrong, i'm a 4S user and have properly used the xperia S, so not a fanboy of any brand.

What is also worth mentioning: don't get it in white, it is scratched and smuggered EXTREMELY fast, holding it against black rubber will make the scratch permanent.

who needs quad core 4 a mobile phone ? Dual core is more than enough 2 run android smoothly. Quad cores will jst cost more money and u won't notice a diffrnt. If android needs quad core to run smoothly they better stop developing android as a mobile platform and start it developing as a cmptr OS.

Great design and specs. But more width would be appreciated. They are too long. Nokia, Samsung, HTC have much better ratio LxW

I think it's definitely the nicest 'looking' phone that has been released this year so far...

The main problems is that it will be pretty much obsoleted as soon as HTC and Sammy start to release their quad-core phones... Even moreso when Google have finished tinkering with the next Moto releases...

It's just too 'mid-range' to compete with other flagships, just like the Arc was last year... They really need to catch up with other manufacturers or they're always going to be a year behind everyone else's tech...

:(

Mate got hold of one in UK a couple of weeks ago. Really nice apart from back doesn't seem to secure. Anyone recommend a decent case?

It has been available in UK since start of March. I got mine on 10th of March and its a wonderful phone. Clean wonderful looks and slick speedy software that with new Sony UI is already looks loads better than standard Gingerbread Android and pretty much close to Android ICS 4.0 I am sure when ICS 4.0 update arrives in a months time or two, it would become an even more awesome device. Highly recommended *****
