> In reply to TruthSeekr @ 2012-03-24 10:19 from vGVh - click to readWell since your seeking for the truth hence the name, let me enlighten you on the target market for these phones.. Its not because the rich is stupid. They are just too busy making money and getting richer everyday to fiddle on a smartphone. They dont need apps or anything to help them everyday since they can hire assistants (real people) to do the job for them.. Anything you can think of that the smartphone can do they have enough money to have a replacement for it. Simple as that.. its not because they have no sense of tech, they just dont care. They have better stuff to do that play with a stupid phone. They dont read tech websites coz instead they read the stock market or think about more ways to make money. Not think about what app to download or game to play next.

> In reply to nectarine @ 2012-03-25 10:45 from S1si - click to readyou're not taking manufacturing and craftmanship into account. I'm sure a sportscar doesn't cost that much in raw material, but then you won't have a product all you have is a pile of raw material. It's the same with these kind of 'premium' phones.
+ some people seem to not be able to understand why someone would pay this much for a phone. You don't buy this kind of phones for their features, you buy it for their exclusiveness, class and style.
It's like comparing a Swiss-made watch, which runs for a few thousand dollars to one of those touchscreen-mp3-mp4-mp5-radio watches which cost a few bucks on ebay. The swiss made watch is much more expensive while having less features, no?

the extra cost is the premium for these phones.

> In reply to nectarine @ 2012-03-25 10:45 from S1si - click to readhaha! Yeah! And you're not counting on Vertus, the cheapest start at 8000, yes, they have better materials, but they too run on S40 or S60.

They only make these things because rich people must have someting to spend money, the ones that won't donate it, must spend on things like this phone.

Yeah, I know that's stupid to say, but don't you thing that many think this way?

For that money one can buy a:
-HTC Sensation XL
-Blacberry 9900 Bold
-Samsung Galaxy S2
-Sony Xperia S
-Iphone 4S
-LG Prada
-Nokia N9
and still have enough left for an Ipad3 or SG Note

Why buy this Gresso if you can have all of the above?

Oh oh Gresso Regal Black!
Five thousand dollars and doesn't even have touchscreen, they rather put buttons on it so sand and dust and water can sneak in. Although with so few components inside it might not take damage when drowned..

ok i did some research on this...

titanium = $45 - 1kg (best quality)

tempered mineral glass = $1.25-6.3 for 1 sq. meter

Series 40 platform -(officially introduced in 1999)
with a staggering 2 mp camera (lol) - $50-%100

and let me understand... they want $5000 for this? :-/

I have a few theories as to why this phone was made.

1)333 = devine number (some priest messed with this :p
2)666 = if u count the number of buttons (3 rows of 6 = 666 + black colour on it! OMG!) :-)
ie. the middle row has the big menue button + direction button over the 4 number buttons = 6 buttons
3)some exectutive in Nokia is having a laugh betting that he will sell a phone worth no more then $200 for $5000 :-)))))))))

Without the severe point at the bottom (and yes, I know it is inspired by a ship's bow) I think this is a very classy looking "luxury" phone. The thing is, just like in the watch industry, the more you take away the more expensive it becomes. I really wish Nokia would bring out another in the Arte line simply because they were classy looking phones that while still expensive by the average standards, were better priced as per materials and technology.... And most looked really nice as well.

S40, you kidding me?
Why is it that most ultra-expensive phones have less-than-normal tech specs?

Okay, so we're not exactly expecting a 41MP PureView lens on this thing, but surely rich folks who appreciate fine craftsmanship have *SOME* sense of technology?

Or is the target market only the old, the tech-handicapped or the stupid rich?

I would be embarrassed to have this mobile regardless of the craftsmanship.

it means it's the cheap for a feature phone. other feature phones like LG Prada, Vertu and the Taghuer cost twice than this phone even if the specs are worse than a 2010 phone.
