I love Symbian, and use symbian since nokia 3650. Right now i'm on my 10th symbian device. I use 2 phone right now. N9 + E7. I also own android tablet.

But the E7 would be my last symbian, I'm gonna get the Quad Core Android because the new boss at nokia really sucks, he literally kill symbian.

I also hang out here:

that's why i know a lot of data.

There's always an end for everything good
yes, it was a good discussion :)

The problem with RIM/BB is because they don't want to corporate with other company, they were to greedy, just like apple. The bigger problem for RIM is they were greedy but were not too smart.

They know that people want to communicate cheaply, and their BBM is their masterpiece, they should license the BBM when nokia and others ask too. (In the past nokia and other have offer RIM US$ 10 - US$ 15 per devices for BBM, Nokia E70. E61 have BIS but unable to connect to BBM, as RIM were greedy and were not sincere with the deal). They were too greedy and thinks that they could take over all the market.

our beloved android and so is iOS covers a larger market. that's the reason why they outdid BB and will continue to do so. And android pushes much more on terms of hardware specs increasing competition thus getting the frontline of technology to shift as what it demands. BB will always just be "Business" just for business.

BTW, nice talking to you.
I really do know what you said :)
The real BB user is not disappear on 1 night.
They still use their old BB, they just don't buy the new one.
That's why your stat and my stat is different
You see the operator stat, that the BB user is not gone, it's still go up, but very slow. on the other hand the other platform go up very fast.

but, if you can read statistic, it's a sign that it will be gone soon enough. after the sales of BB reach 1% (as the article I post to you), the real user of BB in UNITED STATES will be declining.

On the other hand those old BB will be resold in some unknown country, and will still be use, probably until 2-3 years more.

But it's on alarming declining rate.

Since you really look clueless

According to high rank officer at RIM at the last BB devcon in Singapore, current active BB user is around 70 million. FYI, BB has manage to sell 110 million BB since the first BB a long way back.

In comparison, Android has been sold around 300Million device in 2 year, and iphone around 150Million in 5 year. and both android and iphone curve is going up.

I gave you one more chance to proof you're smart and know a lot about Blackberry.

Not so long ago, an official from Blackberry reveal the ACTIVE Blackberry user number.... Do you know the roughly number how many active BB user as of now?

If you know this number, than you know BB is screwd

> In reply to Verbal_Criminal @ 2012-03-27 23:37 from 9Lax - click to readbtw,

I would say that your information IS NOT GOOD.
There were several market that BB were not great. I never have more than 5% market share in Japan, Korea, Hong Kong & China.

And... Although in Singapore, USA, Australia, Blackberry once upon a time ruled... This is the main stronghold of iphone market.... in which blackberry were HIT the most.

So, once again...
I don't trust your word
and you can google to see that in Singapore, USA, Australia iPhone rule, and BB only about 3-10% in the sales chart.

1 more....
according to the web, the us govt only have around 3% of cellphone account... I just google to check if your information is correct....
so, this only proof that you know nothing!!!

> In reply to Verbal_Criminal @ 2012-03-27 23:37 from 9Lax - click to readso,

basically you ask me "Where's you're proof", and when I gave you a big news paper web article as a proof, you said that most link on the google were not good source of information.... in which I agree, that's why I only gave you the article from the big news coorporate.

then you said I was wrong, because you know something that i don't know, because you were the 'inside' people, but you can't proof it with an article, and you could only give me your word.

well i admire the fact that your are so resourceful on using google. May i mention that only 50% of the article in google has good informations, and only 11% ha accurate and trustful resources while 3% of the sites you can find are from the source/company itself. Of course, i don't question your resourcing skills. but basically my infos are from intra company files, or shared studies by :
Australia- Optus, Vodafone, Telstra
Asia- Singtel which hold subsidiary companies which some carriers i mentioned above are included.

i would love to show/send you account shifts, customer data and corporate inhouse market assesments any time of the day... but i don't have plans losing my job.

The most i can give you is this:

40% of the customers of carriers worldwide are the governments(that includes the army).

and the only shift seen on studies made by the CARRIERS themselves are BB has a down rate of 3% and iOS has an increase of 16%. Androids increase by 39% but that would be for consumer markets.

The trending shows a bit decline on BB services but it does not cause a major impact.

if theere is truly a decline on BB, that is not what i am furious about.

The only thing am furious is a lot of people are so gullible when it comes to internet informations.

well... i have none to show you and i just want to say what i say so no hard feelings on this mate. :)

> In reply to Verbal_Criminal @ 2012-03-27 00:57 from 9Lax - click to readI was wondering why you were so angry in defending RIM/BB. It is a well known fact right now that BB were LOSING the market share where the smartphone market is booming. So, it's like double down down.

Let me give you the number from Canalyst and other, and also from RIM financial report (search google, RIM quarter report 2011, or canalyst or any other analyst report)

The Smartphone market is growing from 297.8Million in 2010 into 486.0Million in 2011. That mean if RIM doing just fine, RIM should manage to get the same percentage of user, and increase in selling.

The reality is RIM sales down from 14Million (Q2 2011) to 11 million (Q3 2011). To combat this, RIM does a series of promotion mostly in developing country, and RIM manage to sell 14 million again in Q4 2011. Now... I gave you my analysis on why is this bad.... because RIM only manage to sell the same amount of 14 million handset, while the rest of the player (samsung, iphone, HTC, etc) were having a party of selling the phone.

Because RIM do a big advertising to gain the 14 million in Q4 2011, RIM profit in Q4 2011 were even worse than in Q3 2011 where it sales only 11 million unit.

What it even worse were in Q1 2011 it only manage to sell 11 million unit (again) while still on massive advertising campaign. You'll gonna read a lot about this in april when the Q1 is over. This data is from Canada news paper called The Globe and mail.

All of this is reflected in RIM share that going down. So again... why you were so angry, am I offending you?? If you were not from RIM, you should be happy that I gave you this information.

google is your friend.

I already state the fact, and if you want to know more... google it.

Here is one of the link:

and I will say it one more time to you.
THE REASON US ARMY CHOOSE ANDROID over BB will always be because ANDROID IS BETTER than BB in battlefield.
It doesn't need to be written in that article. If you can't draw that conclusion, than there is no point in me talking to you.

> In reply to Verbal_Criminal @ 2012-03-26 23:25 from 9Lax - click to readFYI,
The gov and the army in THE USE... IS THE LAST ONE who left BB.
The corporate IS THE SECOND ONE after geek, kid, cool dude, cool gal.
So if you read the article I gave you it said 2 years ago in USA, 30% were BB, 1 year ago 17%, now 6%. and at the end of this year would be 1%

and the USA in this context is a leading trend.
that's mean what happened in USA here is now spreading elsewhere. Other country also showing the same symptom that BB has peak, and it's on the way down spiral on domino effect.
