Nokia has absolutely no manufacturing capability at all anymore. All factories closed, all workers terminated. So Nokia is just an OEM using COMPAL in China like any other brand these days. No difference.

Even many reviews noted that the grade of polycarbonate used for the 900 is of inferior quality to that of the 800/N9. It's immediately apparent if you hold an N9 and a 900 together. they cheaped out, no escaping that fact.

They also did not spend much time engineering the 900. Again, see the teardown. It was a budget minded project targeting the US market with only two goals in mind. Make it cheap, and hit the popular smart phone trends in that market. Nothing else was considered, and it shows in the final product.

> In reply to emilian @ 2012-04-08 20:15 from qFtd - click to readPerhaps it is you that is unaware that the deal with Microsoft and the fact that nokia is all in on Windows Phone means that Nokia has closed all their factories and is using COMPAL in China for the Lumia phones with commodity off the shelf parts to meet WP 7.5 min specs. There is almost no Nokia DNA in the 900 at all. It's just a project to meet a specific price point and appeal to popular trends in the USA market.

The Lumia series starting with the N9 have nothing in common with the previous Nokia products. The grade of plastic used is lesser on the 900 then the N9, the teardown revealed it to be poorly engineered using cheap off the shelf parts. The beautiful convexed glass is gone in favor of a flat pane with a ridge around the edge completely destroying the original design of the N9 and it's smooth flowing surface.

I'd say Nokia is barely on par with HTC these days, they've fired over 4000 employees and closed all their factories, they are just a Microsoft OEM now. The old days of legendary quality are over.

We all know Nokia USED to be first class, but now they have no in house manufacturing capabilities at all and all Lumia products are just COMPAL made junk.

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2012-04-08 20:12 from 0Cb2 - click to readAlright Mr Anonymous Architect, I will give you the N9/800 is the paragon of great design. But the 900? C'mon, that's like the cheap Chinese imitation of the N9/800. Gone is the beautiful convexed glass that was the signature of the original design. Gone is the premium polycarbonate in favor of the same lesser grade crap plastic they used for the Dummy Lumia 800 phones that feels nothing like the N9/800. Gone is the in house manufactured legendary Nokia build quality of the N9. Gone is the legendary Nokia engineering of the N9 in favor of commodity off the shelf parts slapped haphazardly together to meet WP 7.5 requirements.

The Lumia 900 is a budget minded product meant to hit the current fashionable smart phone trends in the USA. LTE + larger screen. That's all it is and I hope for Nokia's sake that this made to hit a price point phone doesn't finish them off in the USA forever as I do not think it will live on in popularity past the original launch hype.

htc better build quality then nokia? i literally ROFLMAO at that comment. HTC build is THE worse in the phone industry. I know this because i work at cellphone repair store and guess what i fix the most? HTC phones! HTC = more bang for your buck deal. lots of high-end specs with sub-par quality

i wanna be honest:if i will be force to take a windows mobile, i will buy nokia lumia 900, just because i still love nokia after so many years having this brand. beside that aspect, i consider that the design and plastic are the best at nokia n9, lumia 800,900. they are very special, fresh and cool. i am an architect and i know what quality design is...
