the smartphone industry is really becoming boring every year (aside from a few exceptions)...unlike the time when feature phones (dumb phones) were prevalent...

What are people really expecting? The paradigm shift to touch screen phones has already completed with the iPhone being trounced by Android. Android runs more than well enough on current hardware, so asides from increasing battery autonomy, spec races are rather pointless.
4.7 inch is also too big anyway.

IMO they should work together on a new standard of removable storage. even if microSD becomes incompatible- the advantages of removable storage are too great to simply abandon.

If it is not broken, don't fix it. Sammy will just improve on it. Lets see.

if we are not getting the phone which has been ao hyped from Samsung then guys be sure that iPhone 5 is going to kill the galaxy range. The sgs3 as a flagship device has to be a killer rather than just a step ahead than sgs2. All the best sgs3 says iphone5.

I do hope they focus on battery life and add NFC and 4G. If they do that it would already be able to compete with the likes of the one x, if they keep removable battery and storage ... How's that a small upgrade?

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2012-04-17 17:46 from 0BGT - click to readI think Sammy purposely borked the specs of the Nexus so that it didn't directly compete with the GS2...(5mp camera, etc.) keeping GS2 a better prospect...
And that's why I think Sammy will throw the kitchen sink at this one... because it's their baby, not branded under Google...

If the S3 has expandable memory card and a repleaceable battery...then it's no brainer what I'm going to get. The implimentation of microsim is okay. The 4'7 inch screensize is alright cause I'm already used to the Note's 5'3. I don't care if there isn't a huge difference between the S2, as long as my needs and wants are there...then Samsung had me.

Anything similar to Galaxy Note but with a slightly smaller screen, say 4.8 inch, will be great.

What? Samsung was pushing the announcement away for so long and they would announce something like in this picture? This would be a big fail for Samsung because many people were attracted to S3 by these premium-design, high-quality materials rumors. Samsung could make something like Apple did with the 4S if they had a device that's almost perfect, but SGS 2 is not perfect.
