Developer device running Tizen OS gets hands-on treatment

Developer device running Tizen OS gets hands-on treatment - read the full textWe have been hearing about Tizen for quite a while now but The Handheld Blog has gotten some hands-on time with a developer unit running the OS. At first glance Tizen looks quite familiar to the TouchWiz implementation on Android but there are enough difference to set the two apart...

N9 with Meego is a very good phone, the best Nokia yet, try one and you will want one,
others will copy but never match it. N9 owner.

But its not android since my GS2 lags sometimes. Specially when heading to the homescreen. My icons pop up 1 by 1. and this is a stock gingerbread rom. Not modified by anything and also with touchwiz, not any other launcher.

Don't be so negative. There's a market for a truly open platform, plus it's based on HTML5 which gives it an upper hand in HTML5/Browser performance; It's not just an added HTM5 layer.
Some fundamental advantages that I've seen on open platforms like Maemo/Meego, which I still use and appreciate are true multi-tasking, built-in backup facility and not being forced to create an email account that binds to my device.

The review was about the OS which they have been working on. You come one here and say "this phone is ugly period veeeeeeeeeery ugly" completely missing the point. Also at no point did I state is was the best, so unsure what your drinking there bud. 

Why do you have such a problem with new OS? Personally I think it's a great news, more competition among platforms means that higher quality would be required to grab users attention, because they would have more platforms to choose from. Although I'm an Android fan, i wish Tizen all the best.

Samsung has been all awhile talking about tizen having backward compatibility with apps made for bada. Who cares? What about vice-versa? Or just leave the wave users in the cold, and we will be praying sincerely that tizen turns out to be a big flop.

> In reply to mixa @ 2012-05-08 22:52 from 3VQv - click to readSure will be a fail... but this is a open source project (if I'm not wrong), so still have a possibility of Samsung merge its code with Android core to give them some peace with the patent sues.
So the big Android market that they helped to build will not be in vain.
Anyway, if they don't do it, this will be only one more OS in the mobile market, so they need to very work hard to beat the iOS, ANDROID and WP!

Simple just read this:

From the video, we weren't quite impressed and
didn't see anything here that we haven't already
on Android or Bada. Then again, the OS is still in
its early stages but we don't see where Samsung
could be going with this.
