Developer device running Tizen OS gets hands-on treatment - read the full textWe have been hearing about Tizen for quite a while now but The Handheld Blog has gotten some hands-on time with a developer unit running the OS. At first glance Tizen looks quite familiar to the TouchWiz implementation on Android but there are enough difference to set the two apart...

This is fairly nice. It's like iOS but with the customization that everybody wanted from iOS.

For this to be the first dev phone, I'm impressed. Now the camera app should've been working, thats kinda ridiculous that a core app such as that, was missing but I do like the look of it.

The Tizen Conference is underway RIGHT NOW and it's being streamed LIVE from Tizen's main site, Tizen org

You can stop getting a 'checked screen' when browsing by using a browser that renders full pages. If it can only be used on high end devices then why doesn't their browser render full pages?

Since Samsung are building huge screens they thought people wouldn't mind giving up 10% of their screen for some extra buttons.
Did they buy Google's ICS 'Waste part of your screen' patient?

meego and tizen dont have any relations.
Its as different as windows mobile and windows phone.initially tizen was planned as a continuation of meego, but some kind of disagrement with nokia its a start from scratch os.also meego is based on qt,while tizen is not.
Nokia is developing meltemi os as a continuation of meego.

I like the development of Tizen.... Samsung could be the first to introduce a device running tizen in the market but lets see how panasonic, nec, huawei and other manufacturers do their best twist on tizen...

I hope Sony will adopt tizen and skinnned it totally...

congratulations to tizen developers...
I will support this OS...

Awful downgrade! An ugly UI with an annoying home button. I'll pass.

Could be kind of cool if Samsung created Tizen exclusive stuff and then made an android-tizen dual boot device, so users could get a taste for the OS
