I'll happily go for a Sony or an HTC Nexus device ( smartphone / tablet ) , it's gonna be the best droid if it has a quad-core Krait processor with Adreno 320 graphics , 2GB of RAM , a 4.5" IPS display or smaller with 720p res for the phone , a 10.1" IPS display with FullHD res for the tablet

So u say that we will get updates directly from Google. How come the Australian Galaxy Nexus has not got an update yet? Apparently it will never get one, which means we will be stuck with buggy phone forever.Might go the Windows way me thinks.

More than likely the handset will be from HTC, Samsung, Motorola, LG and possibly Huawei (who seem to be proving themselves quite well and may work to establishing better connections for Google in China over Apple and help win market share for using the Google search engine over Yahoo).

> In reply to Droid Terminator @ 2012-05-16 09:10 from fjjW - click to readExactly.. With google even consumers & community developers will be winners.. Out of the shackles of Network operator pre-loaded restriction of tethering and bloatware.
And the most important point is OEMs will no longer be able to fight on software front.. They would have to compete on the hardware front by offering better hardware and designs and battery life...

those phone will only be different in term of hardware quality and design..like sony definitely will have great design, while samsung maybe on screen..no more custom ui and direct update from google..no more delay in term of update.. sony definitely will have great design, while samsung maybe on screen..customer will have variety of choices base on their needed...

What a good news? Still Google is very cleaver because by choosing 5 companies that can make Nexus devices, for example Samsung, HTC, Sony, LG and Moto, this is what gonna happen:
1. The 5 Nexus phones will be in the first position for those how want the latest Android OS.
2. Those 5 companies will do the best to make the best Nexus phone and with the competition. Meaning Samsung for example want make a GS2 much better than the SNexus like they did.
3. Custom will have more chooses according to their needs on which company the like the most.
4. This will make Google to have 5 upcoming different Nexus devices to compete with iPhone
5. Meaning Google will easilly compete any other OS make like Windows, iPhone, Tizen, ...
6. This will give any company from the 5 to lead the Android world.
7. Google will give Moto chance to make Nexus phones. Which means that they will be making their own phone from that option and Moto can still make his own projet like the Laptop dock, Razr series and so on.
At the end Google will be the winner if this really happen.

So my guess for the top 2 will be Samsung and HTC to be the front runners for the next Nexus. After that, who cares. Sony and others have a long way to go to catch up to the Google platform and their marketability.

oh finally !! Now we would see them talking !! excellent move and excellent judgement and pure slap on US carriers . shouldn't matter in india though . But finally a nexus with kickass Snapdragon S4 quad/dual krait processor / Sdcard support / Non pentile display/Biggest battery :D :D . There we go !!!! That would be awesome . No customization on vanilla android kickass config to kick each other :D :D
