PC suite may be better, but i'd like to give KIES some more time to improve, not just because i like Samsung but its comparitively new (btw, old samusng suite was even miserable)

honestly, i dont wish Samsung to stay in top for long. i dont want a monopolised Smartphone segment. irrepsepctive of Android or any other o/s, i welcome a new champ to rise, i dont mind if thats from Nokia. Let there be a good competition and buyers like you and me can get some benefit out of that competetion. btw, this shuld have been a reply to nokian's post but i missed it there.

> In reply to N0kian @ 2012-05-29 09:40 from fJCp - click to readI am inclined to couple of points from you. Particularly about the Tablet. I am aware that Business with Symbian Tablet was not feasible at that time. Also, there were couple of Technical limitations which Symbian could not over come.

You got it right with the Design, My point is Samusng have tried / experimented a lot with Phones Designs (not many experiments with touch screens though) and have now settled to a sober design which is not spectacular, but certainly not ugly. Honestly, i dont find My GS1 Design to be great, but at the end its not ugly too.

I will not comment anything on the 2700 or any entry level phone from Nokia. They are Pioneers till date, especially in the non touch phone segment. Samsung though pushing hard in that segment has a long way to go.
but Trust me, apart from South Asia, parts of APAC, Africa rest of the markets are tending towards touch phones even in the entry levels. This is another area Nokia should concentrate, introduce more models , Hope to see meltemi devices

No intention to start a debate , but i have posted my views earlier about Symbian ltd - Nokia aquisition. btw, there is no more Meego, its only Meltemi. the good old Meego is now Tizen.

**Nokia did mistakes, Nokia WAS declining but they are on the right path now...Thinking of future rather than adding cores and pixels...**

just my views - market trend, user choices are more pointing the other way mate, people now need more powerful phones with good CPU/GPU combinations (irrespective of the utilisation)and are expecting crisp clarity from flagships. Another Area nokia should rethink their strategies.

**5530 is the odd one out on the said devices. its using a resistive buttons(non physical touch enabled and follows the Xpressmusic design)

No change for 5120 - 5320
**whats a 5120? 5220 doesnt have a straight bottom part which it cant stand upright compared to 5320

No Design changes except dimensions:lumia 800 - 900
** Lumia 900 was considered to be the upgraded version of 800 which was released earlier (more like Iphone 4 vs Iphone 4s)

and Lumia 610- 710.
**610 was the Windows version of Symbian3/Belle Nokia 710 (note the 10 at the end)

Minimal change in bottom :C3 - E5
**C3 has a different dimension, keyboard, "main navigation" buttons compared to E5. I can only see that they have both qwerty and main menu button location configuration. E5 has a silvered main menu buttons.

No changes:N8 - E7 (just a qwerty version of N8)
**N8 was the alltouch version while E7 was the Qwerty version (similar to sedans with hatchback version i dont see any issues with this))

No change E52- E55
C7 - 701 look a like

---------------------------------
Samsung 2010 Oct - 2012 June
*I see 40 Phones with the same Rectangular and rounded endges with a Squarish "Main" Menu button on the center bottom part.

If you hide the face and leave only the silhouette and leave the "Main" menu button visible i still doubt you can name at least half of those 40 i think looks very similar.

I prefer Nokias way of differentiating their products or make them similar based on generation released or OS.

- Well certainly I was, because just to prove Nokia PC suite is better than it..... That's all I wanted to say...

"nokia is praised to release handsets by category which look and feel alike , but SAMSUNG is snubbed because all Galaxies look the same?? how is this justified?"
- As pointed out by NOkian, Samsung has come up the same rectangular shape with rounded corners be it the wave or galaxy series all look the same.... even focus also has the same design...

"701 released in 2011 is a COPY of C7 released in 2010 with 117.2 x 56.8 x 11 mm, 117.3 x 56.8 x 10.5 mm, dimensions and YET you say NOKIA has classified according to O/s versions?huh. Your logic FAILS miserably with 701 belonging to Belle and C7 belongs to Symbian^3. You call this classification, thats PATHETIC i must say. Perhaps, you have to do more research before backing up the point with your explanation"
- Sorry dude, i agree I failed to calssify the way nokia classified... Actually you can also say 701 is an upgraded version of c7 because if you compare http://www.gsmarena.com/compar...dPhone2=4119 you will notice some changes has been made to 701 and specially the processor is upgraded... I am really sorry for the wrong info.... But still I will say Nokia classifies phones based on O/s and some other factors though I couldn't give the exact families with the exact examples.. I regret for the error....

And the rest I agree with NOkian, whatever he says seems to be the truth (atleast for me)....

> In reply to blueglue @ 2012-05-29 08:58 from PTij - click to readYes, starting from why Nokia didn't design a tablet running Symbian platform?

To be honest, the first tablet that grabbed the attention of masses was ipad which was released in the first quarter of 2010. And the popularity and acceptance it got was recognized by other manufacturers in 2nd or maybe 3rd quarter. These were the times when Nokia and Symbian were in pitiful disarray and probably at that point of time they already had taken the strategic decision of discontinuing Symbian and jumping to WP.

Here, I totally agree with you that Nokia did a big mistake by abandoning Symbian. They had the resources and ability to develop it and make money out of it but the bad name and negative popularity could have been the reason of ditching Symbian. Still you can see Symbian has come so far but still people are not willing to accept it. So, the option of making Symbian tablet was obsolete.

Android is popular as hell but still the Android tablets don't sell that well. Who would have gone for an "portrayed obsolete" and "made dead" Symbian running tablet? So, it was strategically not feasible.

Ok now, screens are always rectangular mate. They are hardly going to change ever. It's the "except-screen" part that is molded into a different design and if you see the designs of N8, N9, 808, 700 and 701, you can tell that you are looking at different designs and different phones. Whereas, all the phones Samsung has come up with last year have the same rectangular shape with rounded corners.

We were not discussing about Apple, its a different world and different scenario. It was Nokia vs Samsung.

We keep boasting about them because STILL there is nothing that can better them. Innov8 was blown away by N8 in 2010. While you will completely be puzzled if I ask you to suggest any replacement for my Nokia 2700c at the same price range and with same durability and battery back up and functionality.

And Tizen is not a joke for me. I passed that comment about Samsung's project of merging Bada and Tizen. A company that has failed to come up with an efficient and effective User Interface is engaged in designing code? Hmmmmmm... let's wait and see...

At last I will repeat my point you take away Android from Samsung they will land 10 years back in time... While you take WP away from Nokia, they can still develop Symbian, you take Symbian away from them... they can still come up with Meego... Nokia don't bank upon the pillars provided by others while Samsung does!

Well I should say I still love Samsung's LCD panels though... Nothing comes closer! Every rise has its fall and so will the Android... Let's wait and see if Samsung manages to hold the top position when Android bites the dust... :)

Nokia did mistakes, Nokia WAS declining but they are on the right path now... Thinking of future rather than adding cores and pixels...

I was really disappointed the way you reacted with this comment, i was in the impression that we were having a constructive discussion and i was really fair in passing my views. especially about PC config.

never i pretended that kies is flawless.
you have a wide thought on software and knew that PC suite is bound to have problems, and nothing is perfect. Yet, you start blaming KIES for the issues.

NOKIA HAS GOT THE BEST PC SUITE...after 10+ years it got no bugs, now ask about KIES, will you give time to it just because you dont like the Brand?

Another point i must say,Symbian cannot run on TABLETS, as SYMBIAN is not designed to work on tablets initially, i agree. But Why could not Nokia design when they have observed the market Trend and business (atleast after the success of iPad). nokia had skill, proprietary tools, Resources, market and very strong Good will, but just did not care to revamp SYMBIAN.

"buddy i asked about your pc o/s to check if you are using Win or linux, no intention to being sarcastic so that you should reply with entire h/w config"
- I knew you would reply like this, purposefully I mentioned the specs of my pc you know why? because if I failed to mention, the next time you would have said that my pc is of old generation and doesn't has enough specs to meet the minimum requirements of kies. this is not the only case with you but every sammy fanboy i have met behaves like this so I gave my comp h/w specs early .....

"Nokia being an old player with Mobiles , still has issues with PC suite to work flawlessly. I am aware the link is old, bcoz i did not research more on it. My intention was to explain you that PC Suite has problems too,and i will be able to search more links easily. now that you have said the date as 2010, shall we consider that after 10 year(approximate) of smartmobile construction Nokia still faced issues in fixing the PC suite??"
- Though nokia is 10years old it is not necessary to be perfect, NOBODY is perfect.... even ferrari has got problems e.g http://www.telegraph.co.uk/mot...problem.html (and this is latest news 22 May 2012) and can you plz give me some links regarding problems with nokia suite 3.4 or above?? as i have given the link of kies latest version... Dude, the fact is always the fact no matter if samsung uses android, NOKIA HAS GOT THE BEST PC SUITE...

"kind sir, when i referred to samsung Pixon and Innov8 there were comments from Nokia supporters that i have included 4 year old phone? Now what are you referrring to? 6-7 yr old devices? How is this justified?"
- Sorry sir, Mr.NOkian was trying to say that samsung was good(in CAMERA) in those days but not now... Even i admit the pixon was great until n8 arrived.... cheers

-Its so simple logic just have a glance on it.. 5233,5230,5235,5800,n97,97mini etc all belong to one family that is Symbian S60 V5edition... and 5130, 5310, 5320, 7210, 2700 and many belong to one family that is s40 5th and 6th edition... and lumia phones like 800, 900, 710, 610 all belong to windows family... n8, e7, c6-01, c7 belong to earlier symbian^3 generation family... 603, 701, etc belong to belle generation family.... and the upcoming 808 belongs to pureview family.... do some research before saying anything. Nokia have a speciality that is they classify the mobiles based on their functionality and OS and some other factors unlike samsung who just give rectangular brick design to every touchscreen mobiles.... lol though there are some exceptions in nokia like n9 and lumia 800.... so got my point? I hope so you got it...

Yes,i am aware of win 8 tablets, which eventually every manufacturer shall get into market soon. Its aint any NOKIA speciality. No provocation intended.

A lot of people complain about drain. and to remind there ARE LOT OF OTHERS WHO DONT have the problem. > In reply to blueglue @ 2012-05-28 09:46 from PTij - click to readHmmm.... may be I was not able to realise you what i meant to... Let it be I'll explain it once again... Firstly Nokia MADE TABLETS.. yes I am correct though they were not symbian but there were tablets (Of old generation though)e.g Nokia 770, Nokia N900.. Now you will say that you asked about symbian tablet and i am saying about maemo tablet.. Well certainly there is a point in it.. Firstly you're right nokia couldn't produce a symbian tablet and the main reason for it is: ITS NOT DESIGNED TO SUIT TABLETS! and maemo can support tablet hardware... And because later nokia dumped maemo and continued with symbian it didn't work on tablets.. Now you may agree to my point or leave it, its your wish... BUT THIS IS THE FACT... And don't worry, Nokia after making partnership with Windows and making it primary operating system, is finally going to make some serious TABLETS..
SOURCE: http://wmpoweruser.com/nokia-t...ile-devices/

Ok this was about TABLETS, now coming to your SGS2, i don't want to criticize it but I am just saying the facts, lots of people who are using samsung galaxies are facing the common problem that is Quick BATTERY drain you might also be facing it but are ashamed of accepting it well let it be everyone knows how android smartphones battery really is....

And about samsung kiee, right now i am using 2.0 but today i'll download 2.3 and i'll review it to you tomorrow... and coming to Nokia ovi suite which version are you speaking of???? I am using the latest Nokia Suite 3.4.49.. As far as I know it is 99.99% bug free and by the way you asked about my os na? Well it is Windows 7 Ultimate, with 4gb RAM Intel core 2 duo wolfdale processor (2.53ghz), ATI radeon X1650 video card and with Gigabyte motherboard....and you gave me a link right? Dude it is of "10-Mar-2010" thats 2 years old... Well still I can solve it...I would say the problem is with drivers may be he was using old version and without uninstalling it he installed new version and didn't replace the new drivers...Then the problem arises .. now in the latest version of Nokia suite the drivers are replaced automatically and everything works like a charm unlike KIES lol ... Well have you ever used Nokia Suite 3.3.49? And do you have any belle smartphone? Then you would have known the difference between Nokia Suite and Kies... and see this link http://www.samsunggalaxysforum...kies-issues/ This link contains the problem of latest Kies version...

"Probably, you arent aware that the design, passion, potential, powerful camera lead you no where but to fall down. no hard feeligns, thats the truth again."
Well if you thing design, passion, potential, powerful camera lead you to fall down then what about theses devices
Nokia N95 8gb (known for camera and design in 2006)
Nokia N82 (known for camera and XENON flash in 2007)
Nokia N86 8mp (known for camera and beautiful flip design)
Nokia Eseries (known for their beautiful qwerty keypad and elegant design that suites best for businessman)
Nokia N8(What not about nokia n8!!!! its aluminium unibody adds to the beauty of powerful 28mm wide carl zeiss lens with 12MP cam and powerful XENON flash)
Nokia N9(The princess of all mobile, though it was pushed down by nokia but saw huge meego lovers eventually leading to large number of nokia fanboys)
Nokia 808 PureView(The King of all cameraphones!! I don't need to define it everyone knows about it!)

Now say me do design, passion, potential, powerful camera lead to fall?? No dude these are the reasons why nokia stands different from other brans and is unique that eventually lead to the large number of fanboys like me...

"You like a brand , good for you. you buy the same brand again , suits you in every way. its your choice and i repsect that. How is that related to others choice being poorer?" Well I never said no one to buy only nokia... I just wanted to show where nokia stands and I too respect others choice even my sis has Sony Xperia S and I personally have Samsung galaxy 3 (i5801), Nokia 5310 XM, Nokia 6681(lost), Nokia 6233(my mom's) Nokia N8(dad's) and my next one is NOKIA 808 thats for sure no matter what others say...... Thanks for reading my post with patience... and i have no enemity with SGS2 that too is a great smartphone... Cheers....

P.S: I used odin to upload kyrillos (or whatever) firmware to install in galaxy 3 as well as installing froyo to galaxy 3....

1. about tablet, your explanation is insufficient and out of point. even i know that it'll be a business decision to make a particular model or not? Also, then the same applies for other brands than your beloved... right?. But if you are really interested about the technical whereabouts please research more on 'why Nokia could not produce a tablet for Symbian' than 'Why nokia did not'. secondly, tablets serve a different business purpose to smartphones, how to use them is purely based on user Decision. i keep my discussion to SAMRTPHONES and flagships, at times with mid range devices. So please, stop blowing the old trumpet of PV again and again, thats not at all a relevance to your reply.

i donot have any exceptional piece and i take your sarcasm of auction , with pride. bcoz i have noticed several handsets performing equally and times better.

Which version of KIES? and the o/s tried on? and what was the issue you have faced? btw, have you tried Odin for updates? ( i dont say that KIES is flawless,it does have problems, i faced them too. i was just curious to know)
Its easy for me to give more urls than you for the issues with pc suite, remember PC Suite older and has umpteem problems. below is a SAMPLE.
